A friend of mine recommended this resort to me, I am just in the initial stages of planning looking for that great resort to have my wedding. Anyone already had a wedding or going to have a wedding here in the future that they could share their wisdom with me? I went to their website and it doesn't have enough pictures for weddings, has anyone gone with this line of hotels, the SolMelia? I'm looking to most likely be in Cuba, but also want to keep the cost fair to my guests as they will be coming out of Halifax, Toronto and Calgary.

I don't have any experience with that once, but a travel agent told me that Sol Melia is very good for weddings. I know on this forum here a lot of brides are getting married at a Melia resort.

They have great wedding packages, and if you have over 17 guests most of it is free. I was interested in this resort too, but we thought at the time that some guests would be bringing their kids, and its an 18+ resort... looks beautiful though... good luck!

It's one of the best in Cuba...can't go wrong. A few Cubans mentioned to me that the further the hotel, the better it is. This one is at the end of the Peninsula.

I was there 3 years ago and it is a BEAUTIFUL resort. Like someone mentioned above, the further down you go, the nicer the resorts. When we stayed there, the locals said it was the nicest on the strip.

 

Be mindful that it is an adults only resort.

we spent our honeymoon week at that resort. Its a gorgeous resort and the food is amazing. We did see a wedding going on the week we were there, they were taking pictures around the pool with the bridges. I'm sure they came out beautifully.

The only drawbacks for that resort is that its very far from the night life, you would have to take a cab in and that its mostly couples there. If there are a lot of 20 yr olds in your group they won't find it much fun there. Any singles we met the week we were there were unhappy at the lack of "something to do".

 

But otherwise...highly recommend it!!

I've stayed here, and it is a beautiful 5-star resort. The food is amazing... (I've stayed at other resorts in Cuba, and the food wasn't all that great). I also loved the fact that it was an adults-only resort. I would definitely reccomend this place!!
