Poem/lyric (post here if you are using one)

Recommended Posts

This site has helped me sooo much and I wanted to start a thread for poems and lyrics you could use for invitations, message in a bottle...whatever you prefer.( I'm not sure if I put this thread in the right section or not)

okay, I am putting together a little packet (including welcome letter, family of bride and groom, wedding party, timeline for the day of and so on) for our OOT bags

We are not having a big wedding and their will be some people that we want there or they want to be there but they are unable to come for various reasons so I wanted to include them in some way, also I have lost quit a few family members and wanted to include them in some way, but the "in memory" poems break my heart so I wanted to do something a little more light hearted and this is what I came up with- there is a band, Incubus, and they have a song called "wish you were here"

I dig my toes into the sand

The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds

Strewn across a blue blanket

I lean against the wind

Pretend that I am weightless

And in this moment I am happy

I wish you were here

I lay my head onto the sand

The sky resembles a back lit canopy

With holes punched in it

I'm counting UFOs

I signal them with my lighter

And in this moment I am happy

I wish you were here

The world's a roller coaster

And I am not strapped in

Maybe I should hold with care

But my hands are busy in the air saying:

I wish you were here

- Brandon Boyd

Also we are doing a "this day in history" page which is where you put your vows for each other (if you write them yourselves) or how you met. Basically whatever you want. I found this poem that I decided to use for ours.

Yesterday today & tomorrow:

Cherished are the memories that brought

us here to this day

For yesterday was a dream…

A wish to contemplate.

A fantasy where in my mind,

A fleeting glimpse Iâ€d see…

A vision of the true desires

I longed for endlessly.

And when I dreamed, I did not know

The love Iâ€d feel today;

The height of my true feelings,

And the depths they would portray.

And if I had one wish today,

A simple wish tâ€would be…

Is that the love we feel this moment,

Lasts eternally.

Reality has merged now

As you stand here by my side;

And as I join your hand in mine,

My heart does fill with pride

For as I pledge my love to you,

I see in many ways,

Reflections of my love for you

Are mirrored in your gaze.

And by our presence here today,

And for the love we share,

I thank you for our yesterdays

That brought us to be here.

But more than this, I vow to you

My wishes yet to come…

Tomorrowâ€s dreams and fantasies,

This day that we are one.

Tomorrowâ€s an adventure

That weâ€ll share together now;

Our futureâ€s intertwined forever,

Through this holy vow.

I promise to remember

In the future years and days,

The love I feel for you this moment…

…Dreams fulfilled today.

For in the coming years as we

Move on, and reminisce,

Back to the day I stood with you

And promised with a kiss…

That blessed are the days that

I have looked into your eyes,

And felt the warmth and love reflect,

The essence of our lives

*****

Yesterday we dreamed of what might be;

Today we validate our love;

And tomorrow we will cherish the life we have shared as one.

For any fellow cabo brides a guy named toby keith (country singer, I think)

has a song calleded Cabo san Lucas. I've never heard the song, so I don't know if it would be good to play at a reception or anything, but I took some of the lyrics and am putting it at the bottom of the page. (this would be cute in an invitation)

“Iâ€ll show you the stars and the moon on the sea of Cortez

And the beach at San Juan as the sunâ€s sinking down in the West

In Cabo, Cabo San Lucas Way down in Mexicoâ€

We did a in memory thing. We had two sided frames...one side was a picture with our parent that is passed, and the other side had a poem. My poem was sad (found it on here), but my husband used a song to, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Simple Man.

Mama told me when I was young

Come sit beside me, my only son

And listen closely to what I say.

If you do this it will help you some sunny day.

Take your time... don’t live too fast,

Troubles will come and they will pass.

Go find a woman and you’ll find love,

And don’t forget son, there is someone up above.

Forget your lust for the rich mans gold

All that you need is in your soul,

And you can do this if you try.

All that I want for you my son, is to be satisfied.

Boy, don’t you worry... you’ll find yourself.

Follow your heart and nothing else.

And you can do this if you try.

All I want for you my son, is to be satisfied.

Oh yeah, see when we buried my brother we played simple man and we played free bird when we buried my mom, I was thinking about doing those to remember them, but I know that I wouldn't be able to use those and not loose it completely. So that's why we chose something a little easier to swallow. Don't get me wrong, I think memory poems are beautiful, but I get so sad when I read them and didn't want to spend my wedding day being sad. So that's why we when the route we did. :)
