Treasure beach

Has anyone been to Treasure Beach in Jamaica? I saw something about it online and was wondering if anyone could tell us how it was?

Also has anyone rented a car form Sandals? We are staying at Sandals Negril in May and I would like to know how much it would be to rent a car from the resort to Treasure beach and maybe another place.

If you like peace and quiet, Treasure Beach is perfect for you! My husband and I spent the last 2 nights of our honeymoon in Treasure Beach so that we could tour YS Falls and the Appleton Rum Factory, and we absolutely loved it. It's very very different from Negril - there aren't many people, almost no hustlers, you feel safe, less restaurants but good quality, and a better feel for true Jamaica. We got a ride from Negril to Treasure Beach for about $120 for the both of us.

We stayed at a place called Taino Cove (Taino Cove - Discover the Hidden Treasure!) and it was lovely. We had the entire place to ourselves, which meant we got to control the radio in the hut by the pool and we took advantage of the seclusion by having a couple of romantic walks on the 'private' beach. The owner, Winnie, was ready to take care of any need we could think of, and the free breakfast was healthy and tasty!

We walked down to Jack Spratts for dinner one night and encountered the only hustler we saw the entire time we were in Treasure Beach. The next night we dined at a place called Olivers (I think) that was in a tiny strip mall not too far from the hotel. Olivers was some of the best food I've ever had.

The view of the mountains from Treasure Beach was gorgeous, and the ride over from Negril was a blast - especially seeing the alligators on the banks of the Black River, the beautiful views of the mountains dropping into the ocean (think James Bond) and the roadside huts that sell fresh escovitched fish and bammy.

I highly recommend a trip to Treasure Beach!

Rentals are real reasonable...depends on the time of year but I usually spend about 250-350/week for an economy car. I never have gotten a car from a hotel, I always deal direct with the airport.

My FI and I spent 2 nights at Treasure beach about a year and a half ago. It was very secluded and relaxing. The only thing I would mention is that the ocean floor is very rocky, so it is more of a beach where you would relax on the sand and not so much go in the water.

We stayed at Jake's while we were there, which was amazing. We stayed in one of the honeymoon suites (even though it wasn't our honeymoon lol). The double doors in front of your bed open up onto a deck that is right over the ocean. The shower is outside which I loved (don't worry, no one else can see you :) ). Also you can go up the stairs of your cottage to the roof and there is a private deck with a bed. There are no tvs in the rooms, which normally would drive me nuts but it acutally was much better that way.

This is the link for it: Island Outpost - Jake's in Treasure Beach Jamaica

The honeymoon suites are called Octopussy 1, 2, and 3

Jack Sprats is on the property of Jake's (or next door) and it's not to be missed. Some of the best seafood ever and a nice local vibe with good music.

Oh yeah, and I second msmoodyr... unless you have driven in JA before and are comfortable with it, you would be much better off getting a ride there. I don't know of any places to rent cars other than the airport, but since you'll be in Negril you'll already be halfway to Treasure beach.
