My ring is turning gold already!!

I only had to have mine dipped after I had it sized... the heating brings out the goldish colour. The new jeweller I took it to said it should be dipped once a year or so. I can't believe the difference it made, it's so shiny and beautiful again!

we knew when we chose wg that it would change; some change faster than others (it depends on the karats..how much gold is actually in the metal). i get mine dipped every time i get it cleaned; which is often b/c im currently waiting tables. it doesnt mess up the ring at all. yeah it sucks, but i just go when i'm in the area--no biggie!

 

btw by often i mean every 3 to 4 months...so i cant even tell if its turning or not

my ring is platinum and I have had it for 3 years and I never had to have it "dipped' in anything, I think your jeweler wanted to close the deal so he just told you that. I have never heard of platinum having to be dipped. He might have meant it needs to be buffed because over time it can look dull and loose its shine. I had mind buffed after 3 years and its all nice and shiny again. Platinum is chosen often because of its durability.

Caroline24 at least the store is willing to do it for you for free. Can you imagine having to pay each time you had to have it dipped!?!

I've got a 14K white gold E-ring and wedding band. My E-ring is only starting to yellow slightly and only really at the bottom. My jeweller suggested that I have it dipped this spring. I've been wearing it since May 2008. I'm an RN so my hands get washed with both soap and alcohol rub a bazillion times a day. My ring insurance covers any "dippings" it may need for the rest of my life or the ring's life.

Wow that's super fast. My ring is over 3 years old now and I haven't had to have it dipped yet. I have started talking about it, but it's not necessary yet. I would def take it back to the jeweler and see if they will do it for free b/c 3 months is ridiculous.

When I was looking for places to have it dipped (in the GTA) it ranged from $50-70! And most places wanted me to drop it off overnight!

But then I went to the Jewelry Exchange (on Yonge, across from the Eaton Centre) and there was a guy in the back who did it for $10 in 5 mins! He said he gave me the 'friend' rate because the jeweller that's making my wedding bands works in the same office building, but his normal price is only $20, so not too bad at all.

it does go gold as that is one of the metals white gold is made of.i got my e ring 12mths ago and it is still ok but i do take it off alot to shower/wash dishes.different chemicals can make it change quicker but i think 3mths is too soon?
