I don't think you are bad. It's your day!! The only thing I can agree with the family on is the invites. Some older people aren't internet savvy and won't feel included by receiving the email invite. With that being said, I feel like I WASTED a lot of money going the traditional invite mailing route. Some people didn't even bother to send back PRESTAMPED reply card..what a waste! Glad you didn't even bother girl!! good for you! Don't let them pressure you into doing something you are not comfortable doing!

I sent out save-the-date emails last May and gave everyone 30 days to give us a pretty firm yes or no so we could chose the resort etc... once the hotel was sorted I sent out, yup! another email. Official paper invitations only went out over Christmas and to those who were booked and coming, kind of like a keep-sake. I know my FI's grandma was pretty pissed at us because she felt she had never been invited due to the email (which is ridiculous)... so we sent her a paper one too with a note saying 'we know you can't come.... but you'll be in our thoughts blah blah blah' no clue if it appeased her. LOL FI's problem not mine.

What are you my long lost twin? I'm nowhere near as far into planning as you are, so I'm seeing my oh so dramatic future in your post.

You are not evil. People like to live vicariously through other folks' weddings. So when you digress from tradition, they tweak out. This is especially the case with parents, both moms and dads! Personally I find it weird and downright creepy when people insist on insisting you abide by tradition. How BORING!

Do your thing. Be kind but firm. And by the by, your closest friend/MOH is not only allowed to, but expected to be your mouthpiece; ie. the Bitch that puts people in their place before you murderize them. This way you can look beautiful, keep your composure and maintain family bonds.
