Candy Buffet

Recommended Posts

We're doing this too.....we after all we are getting married on Halloween I don't think there's a more appropriate holiday! But we're calling it Trick or Treat bar. I got lucky our florist is an event planner as well and rents antique furniture for weddings and such....woo hoo! So here are some images from her site, she providing us with the candy, the bags with ties and cute stickers, the apothecary jars and the antique wooden bench. It's the second image....that's what we're getting.....YIPPY!

Thanks.
I am putting little cups out so people will snack on it and towards the end we are putting little bags out that say something about loving chocolate. I have heard stories of people filling bags up and than there is none left for other people so my hope is that everyone will at least get some if I just have the cups out. who knows!

Wow, I am not sure how much. Let me see if I can do some math...

This is really a big guess and I can't find all the bags. I would say I have about 50lbs of stuff. I have read the same thing-1lb per person but

1/4-1/2 should be good. My main goal was to fill up each container and have some left over for the coordinator to top it off. That is also why I am just putting out cups at first so our guest don't go overboard. I promise to check back in a few days (10 I guess) and let you know if I had enough. Oh and we are expecting 80 guests and I have about 14 types of candy..

One more thing, I got big scoops at first and went and just bought some smaller ones so they would a) fit in the containers better and B) people will savor things more and get smaller scoops of stuff. I know I would be tempted to take a big scoopful of something if I had a big scoop. But really by my math each person can take about half a pound of candy and that is enough in my book.

  • 1 month later...

I wanted to share some photos of the final product.

It was a HUGE hit I mean HUGE! If are even thinking of doing one do it!

The cost per guest is a great deal.

A few tips

The one metal scoop we had ended up breaking the containers. People would throw it back in and hit the glass-it broke one of my vases. The scoops I used are actually coffee scoops I got from walmart for 50 cents each.

I tied some wired around each handle and spiffed them up with beads and a little charm. I wouldn't do that again because they just fell off!

We had tons of candy left over so it was really nice at the end of the night to throw out the bags. I had little cups out so people could snack on it and after the crowd thinned out our coordinator put out the bags and people loaded them up. I would do the same thing again so everyone gets some.

Just so you can figure out how much space to use-this table is a 5 foot table and it looked nice. Any bigger and it would have been dwarfed.
