Engagment Party

My wonderful friends threw FI and I a suprise engagement party and we had a blast! FI's parents also threw us an engagement party to which we invited our families and our bridal parties. We are having an AHR so those who were in attendance at the engagement party will be invited to that (if they are not also invited to the DW). Ettiquite does state that those who are not invited to the wedding (or AHR) should technically not be invited to any other wedding parties (mainly because at many of these parties gifts are given and it would be rude to expect a gift when the person is not invited to the wedding itself). I do think that the DW makes things a bit more complicated on this front since if friends and family know that your wedding will be a small affair they will most likely still want to celebrate and be a part of your happiness!

That's a great idea. I'm only inviting the people that I am inviting to my wedding because I am going to have my travel agent there and he's bringing all the catelogs, brochures, etc. about the resort we are going to. It will be like an information session/party !
