alternative guest book

Recommended Posts

Polaroid stopped making these from what I heard. I have seen a ton of other great ideas though. Have guests write a message on a whiteboard, hold it up and take a picture holding what they wrote. I am getting one from the guestbook store, I think it is just the guestbookstore.com you can google it. There is a spot for a picture and I am having it filled out with markers.

Thanks I was looking for the kit!

Another option if you do not want to use the instant is maybe you can have a friend/family member take the pictures for everyone. Even on a digital camera. The place the pictures in the book when you return and have them sign their page at the wedding.

Also, you can make two copies of the photos, one for you book and the other to send to the person(s) after the wedding with a thank you note.

I Love love love pictures so I want to do a photo guestbook too. Poloroid doesn't make the cameras anymore, and even if you do have one, the film is really pricy since you have to buy it online (plus since its not made anymore theres no guarentees that its still usable)

I like the idea of having a few premade things to fill in, names, where they traveled from etc, that'd save some time for guests.

This is what I'm going to do and since I've got some time to plan I haven't exactly figured this out entirely, but you'll get the idea...

Anyway, I think what I am planning on doing is purchasing one of those single picture printers that you either put your memory card it or directly hook your digital camera up to. Most of them are really tiny (smaller than a shoe box) so its packable, and its something that I'll use again. I'm going to purchase a bunch of photo paper and designate someone to take a few pics of ppl when they get to the reception (or pics of everyone from the days up to the wedding..not sure yet). Once everyone has thir pics taken, someone will hook up the camera and have them print out while everyone is eating dinner. Then have a table set up where ppl can pick out their picture(s) and add it to the book and write messages to create something like a scrapbook. If the pics are taken at the wedding I'll prob add a few fun props like hats or shades or mustaches... but as I said I don't have all of this totally planned out yet but hopefully you'll get the idea! Any suggestions would be great!

I am planning to do the same thing at my wedding but I hadn't thought about someone using up all of the film. I still haven't quite figured it all out but I like the camera kits that someone had posted here. I was just going to have my WC set up a black back drop and I bought some disposable cameras for people to take pictures with. I was going to have them sign a blank book then insert pictures after we get them developed. We were going to do something fun like put boas and silly glasses and tiaras and things for people to play with and make the pictures silly.

What I am planning on doing is making up a sheet of cardstock (or 2 per family with questions)

The questions will be like Where did you travel from?
How do you know the Bride and Groom?
Advice for the Newlyweds.
Memories of this day.
Favorite memory of the bride or groom.

I got the idea from someone, i e-mailed her after i saw her pictures online SOMEWHERE!

I will leave the spaces for the pictures, take the cardstock with me to Jamaica and when i get BACK i will fill in the pictures.
Wedding Twins...YAY!!! :)

We're doing something similar as well.  Looked into the polaroid thing, but I'm not spending that kind of cash on something I'll use one time!  I'll have my digital camera on the guest book table with a DIY whiteboard (large picture frame with plexiglass from home depot instead of the glass with fabric behind it).  Guests can write their message on the dry erase board and have their pic taken with it.  We will assemble it when we get home :)
