Aruba Wedding

We haven't booked anything yet either. We are hoping to book in June for January. Prices are outrageous right now. We are also contemplating the Holiday Inn Sunspree. We've been - we enjoyed it - and the prices are affordable which means we'll most likely get a lot more guests to come out. I'm a little weary about your challenges - they soon can be mine too. I'll keep you apprised on any developments.

So do you mean we would need to get our marriage license AND certificate in Aruba in order to get fully married there? I'm seriously contemplating getting the license here and certificate here (meaning I'd need to pay a visit to our City Hall a few weeks prior to Aruba departure to complete the necessary paper work. I don't prefer this since we'd actually be already 'legally' married at that point prior to Aruba but in the long run, I prefer being registered in Canada vs. Aruba. I wish we could get married there and still be registered in Canada. Ahhhhhh! Oh well. Thanks for your insight TAMaureen.

Fortunately, our travel agent just got rates this week for our date of May 2011... rates are really high right now, but booking through our agent, we were able to book the dates to secure the wedding date confirmation through RIU, and we still have the opportunity to re-book at a lower rate when the "Carribean Sale" happens later in the year. From what I've seen so far, it still seems that the wedding packages with the all-inclusive resorts are still more affordable (for the bride and groom) than other non-all-inclusive resorts.

 

Are you using a travel agent? Ask them about the "Carribean Sale" and maybe they can help you out in the same way ours is. She will notify us when the sale begins so that we can alert all of our guests.

Congrats and welcome, I'm new to this forum too. My husband and I got married at the Marriott. I chose them because, being an admin, I have planned hundreds of meetings with Marriotts around the world. Their exceptional quality and attention to details are consistent no matter what country the event was being planned in. So, even though I was planning it from 2798 miles away (give or take a mile or two), I was sure that the hotel would come through with flying colors for the most important event of MY life ~ my WEDDING DAY.

You girls are lucky.  Aruba was always my top choice but I knew no one could afford it.  But I will definitley make the trip there one day.
