Newly engaged and trying to plan!

Hello all! My name is Jennifer. I am currently living in Houston, TX but am from South Dakota. Kyle and I recently got engaged after 4 years of dating. We are planning a November 2010 wedding...specfic date TBD!!We have decided a destination wedding would be best for us....but I am having a difficult time finding a great location that will be cost-friendly for close family & friends to attend and enjoy! I am looking into Dreams Puerto Vallarta, however, have not had a great response from the wedding planner there! So, now I feel like I am back to square one. We originally wanted to find a location in Puerto Vallarta....however, after more research I am wondering if we should try the Cancun/Riveria Maya area?? As you can see....I have lots of questions!! Any suggestions would be VERY GREATLY appreciated!

Welcome to the forum! There is a ton of information out here to answer the many questions you have about the different resorts. I started my planning by meeting with a travel agent to find out what my options were - she was a life saver and I could not have picked my resort and gotten my guests booked without her Good luck and enjoy the process!

Yay, another TX bride!

Congrats on your engagement and good luck in planning. I've never done the PV thing, but I know that Riviera Maya is pretty cost-effective to travel from TX. We usually go once a year after Christmas time for around $700-750pp. (Not resorts, however - we usually stay elsewhere) I saw some pretty okay deals for RIU Palace Riviera Maya from San Antonio on priceline if you'd like to check that out.
