I'm a 2011 bride too! Thinking May and hoping to book The Royal in Playa Del Carmen. Glad to hear I'm not the only one waiting for prices and already planning.

 

sarahlcamp - I am in the same boat, few kids joining us but like the adult only resorts. This is one of the reasons we like The Royal. Their sister resort Gran Porto allows kids and they can come to the Royal for the wedding. I also believe you can go over to the Gran Porto to eat if you are staying at the Royal, so you can still visit with them.Good luck, I am sure you will find something great!

Hello brides!

I am also a 2011 bride. We are looking at having our wedding the first week of Feb 2011. I am hoping to secure the date of Feb 2, 2011. As you all know, things move relatively slowly for 2011 weddings. I too am hearing that prices are unavailable etc. We probably will have 30-40 people coming with us and about 6 kids. So we are looking at kid friendly places as well.... ofcourse everyone is harassing us and putting in their input ehehe. We are looking at the Bahia Principe Coba. Our families have been to this resort and loved it. I hope the planning will go quite smoothly! Anyways, I am finding it hard to get excited without the date and location secured. I guess we are all in the same boat eheh. I look forward to chatting with you all during this process!

Hey to all the brides-to be! I am also a 2011 bride to be and am really excited but a bit overwhelmed! I'm still in the process of trying to find the resort but I'm leaning towards the Riu Palace Riviera Maya. I'm also interested in Paradisus Riviera Cancun & NH Riviera Cancun. So, if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them! Congrats to all of you!

Hey 2011 brides :-)

Good to see you all, Hope you have fun choosing your resorts, Its been driving us mad, its took us about 7 moths to fully decide on the resort we wanted (Riu Palace Riviera Maya) Just hope we dont change our minds again by the time the prices come out in May for next year.

Like you msamanda im looking forward to chatting to everyone during their wedding planning process to see how everyone is getting on. I just wish i had more to say and show at the moment but until we get something booked im kind of a lurker on here as i feel i have not got much input!!!!

Cant wait to start bying things, Dress, OOT bags, rings etc so i can post some fun posts.

All i have at the moment is ideas of everything i want...

 

How are you guys coming along? are you buying now or waiting a few months?

Every free second I have had I have spent it looking for resorts, and I can relate to you completely. I even have a spreadsheet with all the resorts with prices for this year so I can look at the price differences among the resorts. While doing my research, I actually found this site and it has helped me a lot. I spent all of yesterday reading the Riu Palace posts, and have decided that, that is the resort we want to get married at! What other resorts were you considering?

Even though I don't have a date confirmed or a resort confirmed, I found "the dress." I am also planning a home reception so I've started doing a lot of research for that too.

Hi brides, I love this thread!

 

My fiance and I narrowed it down to 3 hotels after alot of research and in the end Barcelo Maya Palace won! We want to book for May 2011 but like alot of you we can't book yet as flight prices arn't out yet (....But we are having a reception when we arrive home in the UK so we're looking into venues for that whilst we're waiting to book Mexico. I also couldn't wait any longer and went dress shopping at the weekend! Whoop whoop. 16months to go i know but i'm so excited!

fsuambs, so so glad you have found "The One" thats fantastic, I have only been dress shopping once but am seriously going to start thinking about it pretty soon as Im getting wedding dress envy going by some of the post on here, I have my on something similar to this style

We have looked all over, other than RPRM in Mexico we looked at the Grand Paraiso but they dont allow kids and we have friends and family with wee ones so that was a no no, we have also looked at Jamaica, Aruba, Cuba, Dom Rep, and many more, but what i liked FI thought was ok and vice versa.... We had our heart set on a particular resort in Jamaica for a good few months then one weekend we were talking and then out of the bue both decided we liked it but didnt want to marry there, so im hoping that wont happen to the RPRM coz we love this more than any weve looked at and i can really see us saying "i do" there :-) This is the ne we actually agree on everything we like/love about it....YIPEE :-)

 

Michelle2011, like you were are planning on a doo when we get back to the UK for family and friends we will miss not being at the wedding, but unlike you 2 lovelys I havent even started thinking about that... Hmmm, Maybe we should, haha.

 

The dress shopping is exciting though and ive done nothing for months but look online for all things weddingy :-)

I get the whole spreadsheet thing though, I avent quite got that set up, but i have prices everywhere so i can compare. We have prices for April 2011, but going of 2010 prices its about £1000 cheaper in May than April so im hoping its the case for 2011.

Hi Everyone! So excited to finally see this thread go up... I've been "lurking" since our engagement in July 2009 and have been having major wedding envy reading about the 2010 brides.

I never imagined myself having a long engagement but due to LOTS of close friends getting married in the upcoming months, and being the MOH in a 10/10/10 destination wedding in the Bahamas for my best friend, I decided I wasn't going to step on anyone's toes. The FI and I decided after only a few weeks of being engaged that we wanted a June 2011 wedding in Mexico.

We're going down to the Riviera this March for 8 days to meet with a few of our vendors and do some site visits. We're set on getting married at the Grand Palladium in their new chapel but will still be visiting Dreams Tulum and El Dorado Royale to see if they can 'sway' us, but we're pretty sure the Grand Palladium is going to blow us away. It has the whole package and I can already picture the entire wedding from start to finish in that location.

We're hoping for the date June 17, 2011 and I don't think I'll have a problem securing it since it is SO far in advance. The only issue will be waiting for the price list, but I'm hoping they'll still let me book the date when we visit.

A bit of advice though for you ladies - most of my vendors I have booked or are holding their prices (until I come back from our visit with the exact date) because being that I was asking for price lists so early, most are willing to give me the 2009/10 pricing if I put down the deposit now. I've already saved a few hundred dollars this way! Really the way I see it, I'm only booking 4-6months sooner than I would have.

Excited for Dec 31, 2010 when 2011 is no longer Sooooo far away. The way I've been planning you would think I'm having a 2010 wedding, What can I say - I just know what I want? Can't wait for us to confirm the date so I can start making purchases. I have my entire wedding mapped out on a powerpoint file - from ceremony decor and cakes to each item in the OOT bags to everything everyone is going to wear down to their underwear! (literally, MY underwear!)

Nicola it is so exciting. We looked for months for a hotel and it was hard deciding as they are all so lush! We've got to book ours through Cosmos as they are the only ones i can find that have Barcelo Maya Palace and they said hopefully April the flights will be out! I honestly cannot wait! I also searched the internet for dresses but going in the shop is so lovely. I have a Maggie Sottero dress. All the dresses in her collection are stunning!

Look forward to hearing more 2011 storeys! We are already in Feburary so this year is going fast already girls, 2011 will be here before we know it! Woo Hoo!!
