Hi and congrats on being engaged! I take mine off whenever I step foot in the house, wash my hands in restaurant bathrooms and put lotion on. Problem is I have a bad habit of putting it in different places in the house and this drives my FI nuts. He always says "you have the equivalent of a small car on your hand and you are careless, KNOCK IT OFF" I have misplaced it so many times, but always manage to find it before he notices. I say all that to say, I have to do better! I definitely vote for finding a special place to put if if you decide to take it off every night. Good luck with the planning and figuring out what works best for you as regards to your ring.

My friend who works for a jewelry store (and consequently helped FI choose the perfect ring for me) says my ring should be the last thing I put on before leaving the house and the first thing I take off when I get back. I guess it incurs the least damage this way.

I usually put mine on after showering, wear it all day, and take it off at night before I go to bed. (I also take it off when putting lotion on.) I have found that giving it a quick scrub with a soft toothbrush each morning helps keep soap and other residues off and leaves it shiny and sparkly. :)

I too love my ring and I wear it all the time! Like many have mentioned I have a mother who never took her ring off. I guess I'm following her example. I only take it off to blow dry my hair ( don't use a brush just my fingers) and to kick box or do weights at the gym (it goes right in my sports bra...would never leave it in the change room. Just a tip...I did pick up a natural cleaner at one of the bridal shows and I love it! Works really well!

I figure that the ring is bound to get scratched over time anyway, so I don't worry about scratches from leaving it on. As mentioned above, the safest place for the ring is on your finger!

Times I do take it off... cleaning with harsh chemicals, swimming, when im cleaning it. that's about it.

I went on a cruise with girlfriends last year and bought a fake e-ring from Claire's to take with me (and left the real one home)... I didn't want to worry about losing the ring in the sand/ocean, but I also didn't want to appear single, so the fake worked great!

take mine off to sleep clean cook pretty much ALL the time except when i work or on weekends when we go out .. so it stays in mint condition all the time, + when my fionce bought my ring they told him not to be going in water with it.. not sure why, probs get dirty fast & doesnt stay blingin wink.gif

I take mine off when I go to bed and put it in the silver ring holder it came in. In the morning I don't put it on until I am finished getting ready. My ring is too big but I can't bear to take it in to size it yet because I know it means I will have to wait to get it back, so depending on what I am doing, if I am nervous it will slip off I slip it onto my middle finger. This drives FI nuts but it's certainly better than losing it. Because my ring is from Birks I can take it in to be cleaned anytime. There is one right by my work so I have a feeling that they might get sick of me soon. I really love my ring!

I wear my titanium wedding band during the week when I am the gym/work. The platinum band and engagement ring is on when we go out for dinner/social gathering. Love my ring too much to bang it up.

In fact, my fiance-now-husband didn't want me to bring the engagement ring to Mexico so I didn't. Really not a big deal for pictures. I'd rather not risk losing it despite it is insured. He gave me the perfect diamond ring when he proposed and I treasure it tremendously! love.gif
