Ok so its not LAST minute because I am still months away from the wedding, but FI and I are thinking we should make sure this is the hotel of our dreams before we sign a contract next week. We picked the Occidental Xcaret because we love the tropical feel of a bright colored hotel that was more low key and kind of intimate... I'ts kind of hard to put into words.

I guess what we really want is a non-hotel hotel... more like villas, low buildings (3 floors or less) and lots of trees and flowers. BUT we need a hotel that can hold our (potentially) 150 guests AND it has to be an AI

Can you girls give me a run down of the fav hotels that match that description in the riviera maya area? Urgh, I hate how I can never make a decision...

Well, I would say if you have any degree of un-sureness, to postpone signing the contract. If you want to explore other options, pre-contract is the time! I don't know much about the particular area, but I'm sure some of the other ladies can help you out. did you do a site visit??

I'd also recommend doing a site visit if you haven't already. Martin and I did one to our first choice in June and decided it wasn't for us - SOOOO glad we went beforehand!!!!!! Now we're looking at doing a second site trip in August to the opposite coast of Mexico, in PV (Dreams). (We originally started out in RM at the Iberostar resorts) If for whatever reason that doesn't work out, we'll probably have to take another (super short) site visit somewhere else. But I'm really hoping that this is the one!!! We're also checking out Las Caletas while we're in PV.

It does make a really good excuse to travel! cheesy.gif lol

Well, I'm an advocate for the Gran Bahia Riviera Maya resorts... but that's just based off of internet searching and friend's recommendations. But, it sounds like your resort already fits all of your requirements. Perhaps you do need a site visit though.
