Strange request...pic of Riu closet door

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has a picture of the closet doors at any of the RIU resorts. I would like to lock my belongings in the closet seeing as how the safes aren't so safe after all. But I need to see the handles on the door to know which kind of lock would work. Thanks!

I'm not sure what type of room you're staying in but the pictures below are from a Suite. I guess you'd have to find out if all of the closets are the same regardless of room type.

Here is a picture of the closet door closed:

And here is a picture of the closet door open. You can also see where the safe is located under where the clothes are hanging. Our guests & ourselves kept money, passports, etc in the safe & no one never had a problem during the 2 separate occasions that we've traveled to Riu resorts.

I agree & we did the exact same thing even though we also used the safe.

Thanks for the pics and ideas ladies. I agree about the closet becoming a target if I try to lock it. Besides, I don't think I would be able to put a lock on a doorknob like that. I guess I will have to lock stuff up in my luggage. I've heard so many bad things about the RIU safes getting broken into by the staff and management doing nothing about it. I want to advise my guests to not use the safe but I don't have an alternative for them. I will definitly advise them to leave valuables at home.

At the time that we booked, our reservation was for an Ocean View Suite. Looking at their room descriptions now it may have actually been a Jacuzzi Suite. I know that we received an upgrade at the time so maybe it is truly a Jacuzzi suite as it had the jetted tub/jacuzzi in there.
Our room was much bigger than a Junior Suite but I did not have any guests reserve regular suites so I'm not sure of the size difference between a Suite & a Jacuzzi Suite.

Also keep in mind that there are a few rooms at ROR that have Jacuzzi's on the balcony. Those may also be known as Jacuzzi suites.

I remember posting a link quite awhile ago about how to "hide" your valuables in the room so they are less likely to be found. It went into ideas such as picking the bottom hem of the curtain & hiding your money/cards in there, taping valuables to the underside of the desk...and things like that. I wish I could find that link! It doesn't help for larger items, but def the smaller/paper ones!
