Dreams Puerto Vallarta OR VillaMagna?!?!

Recommended Posts

I originally had intentions getting married at Villamagna. I changed my mind to Dreams PV just because I loved the quick response of the WC-Rebecca, and the online reviews. I have not had the opportunity to go to PV, so I relied a lot on the online reviews from this website, trip advisor etc.

I contacted so many coordinators and after all the research I am using Mishka- I actually found her through the forum and she has been so helpful and great to work with.
She has a website and blog...

I also have had a much easier time getting in touch with the wedding coordinator at VillaMagna...PV takes several days to a week to get back to my emails, and are not as helpful at VillaMagna.

Sandy- any info on contacts would be great!!
Hi there! Sorry for the delay - I'm leaving on friday for my wedding so it has been a bit chaotic! Congrats on deciding on dreams villamagna - either way you can't go wrong - they are both great hotels. It seems Dreams VM has worked all the kinks out - the resort is getting awesome reviews lately :)

In terms of contacts, these are my frequent ones, all of which have been awesome:

Leonardo Herrera (he is fantastic - he's the concierge and helps me a ton):
[email protected]

Cynthia (in charge of groups):
[email protected]

I can probably provide you with lots more upon my return. If you can use dazzling details..they have been fantastic! I highly recommend them. I'll post pics of both the resort and the wedding when I'm back! Happy planning!

I am hoping someone can give me some advice regarding booking a hotel for our group. We are getting married at Las Caletas and have decided to move forward with having all of our guests stay at Dreams Villamagna. I have been trying to negotiate a group rate with the hotel but the price they are quoting me is more expensive than what I am finding online. It seems it is cheaper to just have everyone book their flights and hotel in a vacation package with either Orbitz or Expedia. I am wondering how people have handled this in the past. Is it smart to lock a block of rooms with the hotel even though it is going to cost everyone $200 -$300 more to book directly through the hotel? Or have people just told their groups to find package deals online and book their travel that way? We want to make things as affordable for our guests as possible; however, by working with the hotel it actually will cost them more. Please let me know if you have any thoughts or guidance on this. I am a little confused as to what to do. Thanks!

Hi Aussie,

I am having the same problem. I signed a contract with my hotel, I have a room commitment and one reception price for people staying at the hotel and one price for guests not staying at the hotel. Now Im finding that Expedia and Travelocity are listing flight and hotel packages that offer the room at a HUGE discount. VERY frustrating!!!!!! Obviously my guests are going to go after the cheaper price. I needed to reserve the room block b/c my wedding is scheduled for the spring (popular time) but Im basically having to set my budget up for worst case scenario -which is most people not taking a room from the room block. Grrrrrr sad.gif

We are running into the same problem too. One of my friends called the other day and asked if she and her bf could book off of travelocity because it was cheaper. I checked and it was $30 cheaper! I didnt think it was that much of a price difference so I told her no! I felt sorta bad. I hope other people dont start looking at that too. We emailed everyone the reservation form right away so most didnt even think of it. We keep checking kayak.com for the cheapest flights and emailing about any deals. Not sure if we should have just went with a travel agent to make it easier.

Ya, its very frustrating. I'm waiting for my resort to get back to me to tell what they plan to do about this problem. It's one thing to ask guests to pay $30 more but hundreds more?? Basically it looks like the travel sites are throwing in the flights for practically nothing, my guests are able to get a flight and hotel stay for the same price they would pay the resort for only the hotel stay. Thats insane. The hotels shouldn't allow these sites to offer such deep discounts.
