Tammy M,
Maybe you should look into that a bit more. And if it is allowed, then I would definitly say something to your WC. It's your wedding day and vows are pretty important so if you want to say a few words of your own then you should. If its not that important to you then roll with it but if it is then speak up girl. Your paying the WC to be there.

I actually already said something to her that I know of some other brides that are having a legal ceremony and are allowed to say their own vows. All she said is "It has to be exactly as the judge says it for a legal wedding" I just think she's too lazy to look into it more. Hmmm Maybe when I'm there for our site visit I'll press the issue.. Hmm maybe we should have a bet to see if I leave their without smacking her around. lol

I think you might just have to smack her around a little. Of course its easier said then done to be firm on issues when your face to face. I'm kinda quiet and unfortunately will back down easy when it comes to confronting issues in person. I'm much better over the phone, and I'm the best when I'm alone practicing what needs to be said, of course I guess that doesn't get me very far now does it. Ya know what, maybe your FMIL coming with you might just be a blessing in disguise. Especially if she is fluent in Spanish. She might be able to help you a lot.

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. I'm like you, I don't like to fight with people, BUT I'm sure my FMIL will be ticking me off and I'll be in the mood for an arguement,, lol.. Plus her and I are alot alike so but the difference is that she doesn't have a problem telling peopl what she things.. so maybe she will tell her off for me.. :-)

Tammy, We were able to do our own ceremony and still have it be legal. We just worked a thing out with the judge where she didn't say anything, just oversaw our ceremony and then we signed the paperwork. They aren't suppose to do that, but we got away with it so I know you can get away with saying your own vows. Fight them on this one!!

I forgot I had my vows at work. Here is our whole ceremony:

We are gathered here today in the presence of friends and family to unite Megan and Brad in marriage. This is a celebration of the joining of two souls already attuned to each other. In the time that Megan and Brad have been together, their love for and understanding of each other has grown and matured. This ceremony marks a starting point, a new beginning in a relationship that has already been established.

Who gives this woman to wed this man?

Meganâ€s father - "Her mother and I."

So what do we mean by love? When we love, we see things other people do not see. We see beneath the surface, to the qualities which make our beloved special and unique. Love is a quality of spirit and an attitude of the emotions, but marriage is a life's work.

Let us now allow the bride and groom to express their love and promises to each other.

Bradâ€s vows…

Megan, with a free and unconstrained soul,

I promise to take you as my only love from this day forward,

to stand by your side,

to listen when you speak,

to comfort you when you cry,

and to join your laughter with my own.

This is my solemn vow.

Meganâ€s vows…

Brad, you are my best friend.

Today I give myself to you in marriage.

I promise to encourage and inspire you,

to laugh with you and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle.

I promise to love you in good times and in bad,

when life seems easy and when it seems hard,

when our love is simple, and when it is an effort.

I promise to cherish you, and to always hold you in highest regard

These things I give to you today, and all the days of our life.

May I have the rings please?

These rings are a symbol of the unbroken circle of love. May these rings remind you always of the vows you have taken.

Brad place the ring on Meganâ€s finger and repeat after me

“Megan, take this ring as a symbol of my love. I pledge to you my love and loyalty forever. Know that I will cherish you always. With this ring I thee wed.â€

Megan place the ring on Bradâ€s finger and repeat after me

“Brad, take this ring as a symbol of my love. I pledge to you my love and loyalty forever. Know that I will cherish you always. With this ring I thee wed.â€

Witnessed by this gathering of friends and family I now pronounce you husband and wife.

You may now kiss the bride.

Ladies and Gentleman, I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. Sagowitz.

I heard that judge has a "script" for the ceremony, then I think you can add your own after. As long as the judge does his/her thing, you can add to it.

When were were having a legal ceremony, we were going to have Marc's father read something out of the bible to give it a more religious feel. Maye said that would be fine.

You should double check.

I think I would like to buy tickets just to come along and see you deal with both your MIL and the WC from hell...
Tammy, this sounds like a big stinky pile of BS (in a long series of BS) from your WC. Stick to your guns, reference what other girls are doing on this forum, and don't give up. She sucks!
