I am getting married at Dreams in October 2010. We are doing the ultimate package as well. I was also quoted at $55 per person above 20 for dinner and the cocktail hour. As for the decor, I think with the ultimate package they include linens, torches and candles. But they specify that you can request a certain color linens but they can't promise they will get them. after reading Jess' review of dazzling details, I am thinking about hiring them to handle the decor.

Hello brides, So my FI and I are not getting married at Dreams PV but do plan on having all our guests stay there for our Jan. 14, 2012  wedding. We are having our wedding at las caletas.

Anyhow I was considering having a welcome dinner at Dreams but decided against it since I had to also pay 55 dollars per person when they are already staying there. Anyhoo, we decided to have our guests meet us friday night for a MEET & GREET by either the lobby bar or sports bar. I was wondering if anyone who has visited knows if this is feasible to have about 50 guests meet us by either bar for a drink with bride & groom night before wedding.

(Hey we are all paying for an all-inclusive and plan on using all of our resources , I do not see the point to paying again 55 dollars when guests are paying all inclusive rate. )

Thanks all

You could definitely just meet at the lobby bar or the sports bar.  The sports bar kinda sucks though.  Lobby bar is nice and there's tons of room.  We pulled tables together & no one ever cared and then we had a lot of people standing and mingling.  It was one of our favorite places to meet at the resort.  They have bands in there a few times a week and although there's not a lot of room to dance, people still did!

I disagree, we just got back 2 weeks from our wedding. The RendezVous lounge will not accommodate 50 people showing up there. I understand all of the challenges with the $55/person etc. We were just in the same situation and we had only 33 guests. What WE did and was so much fun was we had a bonfire. Its all set up by the resort. Its a big fire on the beach, they set up all the chairs around it and put down the grass mats etc. They give you marshmellows on sticks and chocolate and cookies etc. Its nice and private!. You also get your own waiter for the evening and open bar service. It cost us $250 for 2 hours. I highly recomend this as a solution for a meet and greet!

Cheers!

Yes, the WC would set up the bonfire for you and I'm sure you'd be able to have the mariachi band for it.  They're like $600 an hour though.  We had the "mexican trio" for $350 and they were perfect.

Hi!

I am getting married at the Dreams PV Resort in November 2013 and am having issues with trying to arrange a FREE meet and greet.  I have 70 confirmed wedding guests already and am already a bit over budget.

It will cost $55 per person for dinner and $1050 for a bonfire - I am unwilling to pay for this as it is an all-inclusive resort.

All I want is a place where people can introduce themselves and hopefully have a cocktail or 2.  Also, 21 of my guests are children so I need a kid-friendly area.

Would you recommend the group meeting by a pool? I have read some of this thread and it sounds like 70 wont fit in the lounge area.

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi Kristi,

I know it sucks to have to pay for a meet and greet with your guests when it is an all inclusive resort. However, you have to think about the fact that you are trying to fit 70 people into one location, and that is a bit taxing on the resort. Hence why they do charge for private events. Could it be cheaper, certainly! Bit this where they make their money.

I guess you could meet by the pool- it will just be hard for everyone to get drinks, as the bar by the pool isn't very big. However, you could suggest to your guests to meet there by a certain time and to grab a drink in the lobby bar or by the pool side before meeting there. That way at least everyone is a bit split up initially?

The area by the pool is kid friendly, it's mostly just open space, but there isn't a lot for them to do, entertainment wise.

While it may be an expense, the bonfire is a really neat way to get everyone together in a private place that does have some entertainment for all ages. I am pretty sure I am going to be in a very similar boat as you... but I am just sucking up the cost, as the bonfire really is the cheapest way to get everyone together without paying a per person charge for dinner.
