DW- Bringing your toddler? Whose done/doing it? Tips?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We went the baby route first - now we have a 2 year old that will be coming with us! We're heading to the Mayan Riviera - resort to be determined.

The idea in theory seemed great, until I'm now trying to pick a resort and thinking of all the things you must think about when you have a toddler! Both sets of grandparents are coming so that will help us out with babysitting a bit.

I have a million things I'm wondering about - one of the biggest being how do you share a room with a sleeping toddler? I've thought about maybe bringing an extra sheet and trying to make a room divider. I just don't think she will sleep in the room with someone else in view. She is very independent and likes her space lol

Thanks for any advice :-)

Terra my nephew came to my wedding he was 14 mos old at the time. the resort provided a crib. they did have a little bit of a hard time trying to get him to sleep with them in the room. But what they eventually started to do was when they put him to bed they would go out on the patio close the curtains so he couldnt see them and wait maybe a half hour to an hour until he fell asleep. they would have a couple of drinks out there while waiting. they did have my il's to babysit so they could go out for dinner by themselves a few times or hang out late. it worked out pretty good for them.

they were really worried about the plane ride. you didnt mention it in your post but just in case your concerned what really helped them is bringing a portable DVD player, the flight was about 4 hours long and my nephew was so into his shows that he didnt make a peep the whole time.

I brought along two girls who where 18-20 months old to my wedding in Riviera Maya. It actually went quite well! We stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe and they really cater to the little ones. The pools have shallow areas where they were able to walk around and play without us having to constantly hold them. They LOVED it.

As for the sleeping in the room, we did the balcony trick. Whoever was putting them down for nap would put them in the pack n play/crib thingy and then go out on the balcony with the shade shut. As soon as they were alseep, then they were "free to move about the cabin." But honestly, the balconies are SO nice that they typically just hung out there... and of course they had room service delivered so they just would eat lunch outside with the beautiful views. It worked out very well.
