Hi Jess,

Congratulations, everything looked so beautiful. I am in the very beginning stages of planning my October 2010 wedding at dreams PV. Wondering if you would mind answering a few questions... Since you hired Dazzling Details, how involved was Rebeca the WC? She has been pretty responsive as far as getting back to me but doesn't always answer my questions. I am debating whether to hire outside help, not sure if it will fit into my budget, so I am just trying to get an idea of how much a difference it will make.

I am glad you pointed out the thing with the rooms. I got a quote for my "group rate" on the rooms for my guest, which I guess is supposed to be a discount, but its no cheaper than the rate you get if you just go onto the website and book a reservation. Should I even try to negotiate on this point? Did you use an outside travel agent? I have spoken to one and she seems to be trying to steer me away from Dreams, and I am pretty set on the location.

Sorry for so many questions...this is a bit overwhelming in the beginning stages.

I didn't use Rebeca at all, I did meet her and she was very nice but we were looking for a coordinator who would handle EVERYTHING where I wouldn't have to worry about anything. Also, Dazzling Details is more of a detail oriented coordinator who goes all out on their weddings which is what we wanted. The other girls who did use Rebeca though said she was great. It really depends on what you want and your budget.

 

Did you get the group rate through Dreams? I thought they would be the best so I did the same and they were not. I got a few more quotes from TA's and used the best rates. It is crazy to me and makes no sense that the resort directly would not have the best rates but they don't. Also, outside TA's have better negotiating power so I would definitely do that. When our room rates lowered online, our TA got ours lowered to beat the online rates, and this happened a couple times before our wedding.
