Threats of Rain

Recommended Posts

I'm so worried. I've been lurking on weather forecast sites and there is a threat of showers on my big day. I'm not familiar w/ weather patterns in Jamaica like whether a day can be a total wash out or if the rain showers are short and sweet. Anyways, what does ROR do to accommodate your wedding if it rains? And also anyone else have a wedding at ROR and have to deal w/ showers or threats of rain? Really worried, disappointed, and freaking out sad.gif(

hey. you should be fine. in the Caribbean, when it rains, it does for about an hour... afterwards, it gets so hot and dries up all the rain.

Stormy season is over, so you should be fine.

if you`re still concerned, check with RIU to see if there`s a rain-plan.

(by the way, UR resort is gorgeous!)

all the best.

I agree, it'll rain for a bit and then dry out. when you check with the rain plan, ask how flexible they are with the time frame. if it's cloudy or raining around your ceremony time, will they push it back and wait our the rain? don't worry too much, I know it sucks, but think positive!!! smile03.gif

Having been to Jamaica three times now & other Caribbean islands, I can tell you not to worry about the online weather forecasts. Like you, the week before my wedding, I was stalking the forecasts & annoyed that it literally said rain every day, which included my wedding day.

When I got to ROR, it didn't rain ONCE!!! Not a drop for the 7 days that I was there. When I was there this past June, when it did rain, it would do so for a very short amount of time. One day it would rain for 5 mins & 1 other particular day it rained for maybe an hour at the most. But there was never any continuous rain that ruined the day.

In the event of rain, Chandlyn will do 1 of 2 things. She will ask you if you want to wait it out. They know that the rain doesn't last long, so depending on your ceremony time, she may ask you if you'd like to wait until it stops & then start your ceremony.

The other option is that if it doesn't look like the rain is going to stop, she will move your ceremony indoors. I've seen this done at Mammee Bay. She'll move all of your ceremony decorations & decorate Mammee Bay.

There was a BDW bride who that happened to but I don't remember who it was but her pictures were still beautiful.

So this is to say that it may rain on your wedding day, but if it does, hopefully it will be a passing shower & if it isn't you will have a backup plan. Try not to worry & stress out about it.

Don't freak out...there is nothing you can do about the weather. I didn't even check the weather report before we left for this very reason because what's it going to do except stress you out. Enjoy the occassion instead of worrying about it!!
