Check on your venues to make sure they are still open or operating

It has been unfortunate to see some places close down due to the economy. Cala Luna being one (gorgeous boutique hotel). Buena Vista Villas y Casas is still operating but the Tulecafe (for receptions) closed down temporarily.

Double check with your coordinators or ask us in this forum, to know the status of your venue or venue you have in mind. There are plenty of options, but better to know ahead of time in case you are set on a place

Cala Luna is open now.  I believe they re-opened in October 2011.  I was just in Tamarindo a couple weeks ago and we did a walk through of Cala Luna.  It looks like a lovely boutique hotel.  We did not look at the rooms, and only looked at pool area & main reception.  Plus we walked down to the beach.

But yes - they are open!

This actually happened to me!  I was getting at the Riu Caribe, and they closed it down for renovation during my wedding week!  NO ONE EVEN TOLD ME!  NOT EVEN MY WEDDING COORDINATOR!  It took me two weeks of email and adding $50.00 international calling to my cell phone to get things figured out!  Thankfully there are two other riu hotels in Mexico, and they are comping me certain things, but over all it was an absolute nightmare!
