Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies...question for all of you amazingly resourceful people :)

Has anyone purchased a Tungsten wedding band and if so where did you purchase it from...was wondering about online sites? Also, how do your husbands like the band? A friend was mentionning that hers loves his so was wondering about other opinions! ANY THOUGHTS APPRECIATED!

We were going to go with Tungsten but decided to go with white gold in the end as we didn't like the idea that if he jammed his hand somehow there's no way to cut off the ring. Not all hospitals have the right cutters and it just wasn't something we wanted to worry about. Just a thought but if you live in a bigger city you may not have that worry. Most jewellery stores at our mall carried at least a few options for Tungsten.

My DH ring is Tungsten. He loves it. We have only one issue. Since the wedding he has ended up in the hospital after surgical complications. As a result, he has lost over 25 lbs. You can't size it, so if he stays at this weight, we will have to buy him a new ring... it falls off. But it was very affordable, and he loves it, so I guess it is a trade off.

If you're worried about not being able to get a tungsten ring off, watch this video:

YouTube - Tungsten rings - Emergency removal of a tungsten carbide ring

I'm not sure I would want pliers like that coming at my finger, but it would be good to keep around just in case. There are several videos on YouTube showing different methods of breaking the ring off since it can't be cut like a gold or silver ring.

  • 2 weeks later...

My husband ordered his tungsten ring from Tungsten Rings, Men's Tungsten Jewelry, Titanium Wedding Band Ring. They were extremely helpful. We actually ordered the wrong size at first, but it was no problem to send it back and get a new one sent to us free of charge.

My husband really loves his ring! And it was really cheap...$99. I was also really worried about how it can't be cut off in an emergency, but we did more research and realized that it can be broken off, so no need to worry about ER's not having the proper tools.

Keep in mind that we went to a mall jewelery store to get prices, and the exact same ring he got for $99, was being sold for over $300. They really mark up the price at some of these stores. But I guess you take a risk by ordering things online...luckily it all worked out for us...
