love this idea. I was going to purchase mine through AMOLS  but they don't carry the exact colors for our wedding.  want light aqua/tiffany blue and coral.   So now thinking I can just buy the white ones and do it my self....  thanks for posting

OTC = Oriental Trading Company And they still sell them!

To paint the base, I marked them off with painters tape, then stuck them in a cardboard box and spray painted. I just used paint pens to wrtie on them. They last a long time too... my 2 year old is now playing with them, 6 years later!

I finished my maracas! I used Mishka's designs as inspiration and really wouldn't have even attempted them if I wasn't on this forum. So they are those tiny ones from OTC, but I love mini-things and think they turned out pretty cute. I did them early so I wasn't up the night before I left painting the little suckers...ahem... cougs... thanks for the advice

 

They are going to go on the seats at the ceremony. Enjoy the pics!

FANTASTIC!!!!  They look amazing @@autjo :-)  I'm super, jaw-droppingly impressed right now.  I was going to try to hire a company in Mexico to do them for me but after seeing yours... may reconsider.  Would you mind sharing where you ordered the marachas from and what kind of paint(s) you used?  And/or stencil?
