Las Caletas Couples ~ POST HERE!!! (**All LC Brides...PLEASE READ 1st post, red text)

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping to get some help... The bridesmaid dresses I chose are multi-colored: any suggestions on what my "colors" should be or what kind of flowers? I was going with a "tropical" theme and I love bright gerber daisies and I was thinking of the centerpieces with cut-up limes. I'm kind of all over the place and don't know where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated. P.S. the purple on the dress is a lot more vibrant in person.

Psuelisa, I LOVE that dress!  I have been eyeing it for my welcome party! As far as flowers go, I am trying to decide as well... quick question for everyone who has been there... will Kelley give us a list of what type of flowers will be available to choose from, or does she pretty much have access to all kinds?  Yesterday was 4 months until my wedding!!! YAY!  Happy New Year!

That's awesome!  We decided to stay up in Nueavo Vallarta at The Vallarta Palace.  It came recommended to us by a few people on here and it looks like a great hotel.  I looked at the Westin while researching hotels and it looks like a beautiful place.

We will be coming in on the 6th and leaving on the 17th.  As the new year starts, well tomorrow, it's become more and more real just how close the wedding is approaching.

Ok, some quick questions about customs....

What are the basic guidelines with customs and how strict are the agents with everything?  I bought a couple of things and a while ago and did not even think the logistics of bringing them into Mexico and now I for the life of me can not find the flippin' receipts.  I read somewhere that you are only allowed a certain amount of "items/product" with you.  How did you ladies who have made the trip handle this?

I'm glad I thought of this now rather than have that, "oh crap!" moment a month before we leave.

haha I had a HUGE fear of that dang red/green light get through customs systems. I think I had nightmares that I would get the red light!

I tried to keep all of my receipts for all of the things I purchased but there was really some that I just didn't have. We ended up with 5/6 bags and huge box that we had checked (full of the OOT bags). It was pretty obvious that we were there for a wedding...I was even ready to whip out my dress and show them!

Anyway, none of us in our group got the red light (thank goodness) but the custom guy was verrrrry interested in what was in the box and they wanted to open it. which was fine. they opened the box and saw about 20 straw beach bags. we just said it was for a wedding, the guy looked at us, saw a HUGE wedding dress bag and let us go on. So really no problems at all and I never even did need to show receipts, even though I did have them handy. So really no problems at all, the process of them opening the box and looking in it took less than 2 minutes.

I think that they see enough brides/wedding parties come through that they just know that you are not going to sell your bags of wedding crap.

I would just try to keep as many of your receipts as possible handy just in case you do need them and be ready to show them that dress too! hee hee

you'll be fine, even if you do get the red light!

Thanks Andi, this is really helpful information. I didn't even think ahead on what's going to happen when I reach customs. I am just in the beginning process of gathering the vendors information to purchase  the items in my OOT bag.

It's hard because the booking dute date is not until end of February so I don't really have a head count of how many guests are coming. I have an estimate but I don't want to buy items yet.
