Getting your OOT Bag there

We thought about shipping too. It seems so much easier, but the cost to ship everything international (to Mexico) is so expensive.

 

I think we are going to get some cheap luggage/bags and just pay the extra baggage fee going there and just leave the empty bags behind.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions- I think we will be taking ours along with any extra decorations as carry on's

Oh wow--I was thinking of shipping, but didn't realize it was that much! I am planning on spreading out the bags amongst family members to bring now

We are also carrying all of our items with us. We are not allowed to ship anything and the resort and the island do not recommend it at all. I think your best bet would be to keep it simple and easy to carry!

those who said you get 2 free checked bags -- which airlines are you flying on? I didn't think any of the big airlines offered free checked bags anymore (except southwest, but I don't think they fly there)

Hey I am traveling through Mexicana to Cancun..... They allow 2 50lb bags....

After reading this i am very sure I will stop shopping. My friend offered to bring the koozies down for me. The bags themselves take up so much space that I'm not re-considering the real touch flowers i was planning on. I just don't want to lug so much stuff. Definitely buying my OOT contents in Mexico. there is a walmart in Playa del Carmen so that should work. I'll bring a list of things to buy, thanks to all of you!!

I flew Delta to Mexico last summer and we got 2 free checked bags. I don't think the baggage fees apply to international flights, but not positive on that.

I think you would be taking a risk in shipping them there. We are going to carry ours on..somehow. We have been asking people in our wedding party if they would take bits and pieces for us! :-)

I would be worried about shipping the stuff and I don't really want to lug everything with me...so I think I'm going to have a little get together about a month before we leave to give everyone their bags and send out the bags to those who don't live in the area.

 

I'm hoping that this will get them excited for the trip and prevent them from buying some of the items themselves.
