Biggest Destination Wedding Stress factor - what's yours?

Recommended Posts

Mine waited until the bitter end. We sent a reminder email out and they still waited until the bitter end. Thankfully our due date was a bit before ACs due date so the slackers didn't miss out. We got most paid in the last one or two days.

that's exactly what we did too. Had I told people that the deadline was actually the 25th, they would wait until the 26th haha and then I don't want to hear anyone complain that they didn't get the same rate. I know most people will wait until the very end anyways. Did the e-mail work? My fiance says we should call people right before the deadline because then they have no excuse. If they want to come they can't say they forgot haha. I just feel bad calling and being such a hassle.

A lot of people thanked us. As some

People got busy and had forgotten -- those ones booked ASAP. The others ones still waited lol. Like my dad. He's been in since April but waited until July 17 to book :)

My fiancé followed up more with his than I did mine, at some point you have to let it go lol.

My fiance and I texted people a week before the deadline just a friendly reminder that the last day to book was such and such a date and who to contact and if they had any questions to let us know.  We texted people who had shown interest early on or had mentioned yes they were coming.  After the text most people booked some still didn't and completely ignored us but the text did remind those who did want to come and forgot the deadline.

that's what i said to do but he would rather call. I just hate calling people  , I don't know why but I would rather text 100% or talk with them in person. I already talked with people as I gave them the invitations about what to do etc. I think just a friendly reminder of the deadline will be fine, at least for those who said they are coming.

Doesn't that annoy you? The people who just completely ignored it? I have people who are married who didn't even RSVP no. I mean I'm over it and not holding a grudge (no really lol) just blows my mind.

Hehe I don't like to talk on the phone either. And the text or email gives them info they can reference back too. There's a way to justify it.

It really does blow your mind how people just don't respond - I planned my sister's bridal shower, bachelorette party, AND baby shower last year (yes, a honeymoon baby) and it was so frustrating that I had to track down about 80% of the people to find out if they were coming or not because they didn't respond either way. For the bridal shower I had to give a guest count to a restaurant so it was especially annoying. I'm anticipating the same thing will happen for our wedding. I will never, ever be that person who doesn't RSVP now!

yeah what is wrong with people not responding? I texted people at first just to get a general gist if people were interested in going and one friend blantently ignored me....it is fine if you want to say sorry, cant swing it!

Reading this thread is starting to worry me that people will be late to book or not respond! Lol gahh why is planning events always such a hassle! People suck. Lol. Hopefully everything works out for everyone! Me and my fiancée were just saying last night we aren't even going to stress it, the less people the less money we have to pay. I'm going to try to think that way when booking time comes around.

I know! I originally was thinking 60 people...but now I'm kinda hoping it is more like 40. It just sounds more manageable! At this point it could go either way :)
