I am trying to keep my guests price as cheap as possible for a great time. I am hoping to find an area where we can stay and have fun for around $900. But the most important thing is to pick a beautiful spot for my wedding. I am sure that they will have fun where ever we go, but I only have one shot for a beautiful wedding location. Do anyone have pictures of the resort that they have chosen or group rates that they could share with me?

I am a Punta Cana bride, and in about 6 weeks I will be able to tell you firsthand about getting married there.

I chose the DR for a few reasons, cost was one of them, it is def cheaper for us to go to the DR, my guests are going to Punta Cana for 1 week for about $1100.00 and staying at a 4&1/2 star resort. The costs for kids was reasonable also about 1/2 the price. Our resort is an ai and the wedding is not costing me much. Our dinner is included and we are having a reception on the beach. We will be eating dinner outside on the Ocean Terrace, and the meal included had many options. I get to decorate however I wish, my wc has been a dream. We are paying for a trio, and a dj, the flowers of course and extra cake and champagne. I am also having a farewell dinner which will not cost me any extra, our welcome reception is only costing us the price of hor'douvers and wait staff, booze is included. The resort we chose has tons to do for everyone, and the beach and water in Punta Cana is breathtaking.

Now having said that one of my most frustrating things has been that the DR does not have a selection of photographers, and for that reason alone I had wished I had chosen Mexico.

I have been to both the DR and Mexico, and I loved both places, I don't think you can go wrong in either of these locations. If you really don't have a preference, I think you need to research prices for each location, and make your decision based on your final costs.

Hello, I am getting married at dreams cancun. I remember how much it absolutely was killing me trying to make a decision!!! I looked at so many different places!

I chose dreams, for a few reasons, one, they allow children and we have an 8 year old, so that was a must.

two, its not an enormous resort, I wanted a big enough resort so it didn't seem like we were the only ones there, but small enough that we'll still run into each other.

three, price for our guests was very important, we knew it would be tough for people to go, so we had to keep the price reasonable if we wanted anyone to go. we are also coming from the east coast, so cancun was cheaper flight wise.

four, I fell in love with the gazebo

Let me know if you have any questions. There are so many beautiful places, I don't think you'll be dissapointed anywhere you go.

if you do a search for dreams cancun on this forum you'll find a lot of information that we've all shared with each other.

While planning my wedding I found that prices were higher than I expected. We were also unable to get any pricing for Jan 2008 until June 2007. I think the point to remember is that the resort does not seemed impressed by you organizing a large group of people to come there, there is no real price break. FI and I have vacationed a lot always on a last minute deal about a month in advance to 5* resorts for great deals.

When you are booking your group wedding trip they don't really discount. The advantage of the group booking is that if the resort is full (and it happens) group members shouldn't be bumped to other resorts. If someone books on their own they run the risk of being bumped. Also, when we were booking last month they told us how many seats were left on the plane for Jan 2008 and it was pretty full. There is no guarantee that there will be room on flights or at the resort if people book on their own.

Ladies, regarding photographers I urge you to talk to wedding photogs you are interested in that work local to you. I got a recommendation from my travel agent that a local photog likes to travel. His work is great but he and his wife offer a special deal for off season destination weddings. They travel on the trip and you do not pay for the travel. You agree to purchase one of his higher end pkgs and he comes on the trip at their own cost. His albums are really unique, more like yearbooks or coffee table books, I am so excited. He is also coming to our reception for a few hours a month after the trip. It is more than we wanted to spend on photography, but there is really nothing I can compare prices with since he is travelling with us.

I thank all of you for your information. I am on my way to speak with my TA now to get some pricing information on the resorts that you all have chosen. Hopefully, with your help and hers, I will be able to choose something that I will love.

I am getting married at the Paradisus Punta Cana and already have the time/date reserved for April 2008 and more than 40 people have put down deposits. For 3 nights, it's costing $558 per person, plus airfare. There are less and more expensive resorts to choose from, but it is keeping the cost under $1000 per person, and there are some great priced flights from the East Coast (not sure about prices from other areas). I have pictures of the different wedding set-ups, etc if you want to see them.
