Recommended Posts

I'm very quickly liking this site!!  The info is great!

tris - that really does answer questions for me.  thanks a bunch!!

ok - here's something a bit off topic and I probably could find it somewhere else on this site, but from what I'm seeing all of the GBPJ brides to be have all the info I need.  here goes.

what the heck are oot bags, what do you do with them, are they legal and can you take them to the resort with you?????

keep the info coming ladies!!  and thank you again.

OOT bags are out of town bags, filled with snacks, a hangover kit (tylonol and such),  a welcome letter,  that sort of thing as a thank-you to guests.   Its legal, you can take them and you give them to the guests, some people have the hotel put them them in the room when they get there.

Thats good to know they charge $10, cuz my uncle has problems getting around and the hotel can help him with that, funny that that will be free yet they charge to bring you to the site?  Friggin ridiculous

I read from another bride who also used the free pkg that Bev was able to pick her up and transport her to the wedding site for $10.  Maybe double check with Bev if you're interested in this service to confirm that it's still available.

Tris - We booked Paula & Damian from Sungold as well!  I absolutely love their work!  My fiance almost choked when I told him their price (lol!) but I thought it was worth it.  I find that although their upfront costs are more the "after price" is minimal which can be opposite for other photographers.  My goal was to find a photographer who could give me beautiful pictures that last a lifetime, and I'm positive they'll deliver on that.  I'm wondering if you could also send me the info from tai flora?  If you can I'll PM you my email address.

I'm also wondering what restaurant everyone else is using for their dinner reception following the ceremony?  I've read lots of great reviews about Don Pablo's but haven't really seen much on the other options.

Thanks Ladies!

We're using Sungold Associates for our wedding. Photography was super important to me and I wouldn't be happy with 10 shots from the resort photog. We're paying $2500 for our photo package which includes 8 hrs on the wedding day with 2 photographers, plus a 2 hours trash the dress the next day. Out of it we get all of the digital images edited on a DVD (YAY!). It's expensive, but to me it's worth it. I haven't heard anything about vendor fees as of yet but when I mentioned to Beverly that we were hiring an outside photog she was completely fine with it.

If you PM me your email I can send you the flower info from tai flora. I know some brides have gone to other florists but I'm fine with Tai. We get a free boquet & bout so all the flowers for our wedding (including corsages for the moms & grandmas, & bouts for the dads & gramps) is $200. We're bringing our own centerpieces down with us.

I've seen some pics with the wedding on the beach and it's done right beside the gazebo. I originally wanted the beach, but when I saw the gazebo I changed my mind :)

Wow - all the info here is great.  I'm like 2drswed. relatively new to the site but have been lurking.  we've finally decided on GBPJ for nov 16, 2011. I sent Beverly an email last tuesday (feb 1st) and still haven't had a reply. an opinion on whether I should re-email? I'm getting a little worried.  who has had to make a deposit and who hasn't??? I've seen mixed notes here.  we're just waiting on our travel rates from Weddings by Oceans here in Toronto. our group will only be about 10 or 12 - second time around for both of us but I'm perfectly happy with a small group. I'm still real early planning stages but my big question is photography.  the resort uses Digipix and I'm not sure I like what I see on their website. I saw soontobemrsdow say something about photography and taking their own.  HELP????? cost, charges, fees, from where??  why did they give you a credit for bringing your own photographer - I heard something about paying a vendor's fee if you don't use the resort photographer???  any info would be super appreciated. we aren't looking to spend a ton of money because we've done this before, but I still want something nice. we're looking at the blissful love pkg, I think $1350.  I've looked at the taiflora website and they have some nice stuff. does anyone know what style gets included with the resort pkg? I really want to "walk down the aisle" in flip flops so that's my plan.  I love the gazebo  but has anyone done the beach instead and how did it go????

thanks for whatever gets passed along!!

I know what you mean.  The more I read other posts the more unexpected costs pop up....buuuuut I'm glad to read about them ahead of time, that way I'm not shocked once we get to the resort.

To those of you that were interested in the webstreaming of the wedding live on internet for all the loved ones that cannot be there on your day:

From oneil rumble:

To do what you requested i normally charge US$ 250.00 and if you are interested in doing a wedding
video of the entire wedding i would only charge you US$450.00 in total for both.
Normally the wedding video alone starts at US$ 350.00 so your getting quite a deal.
The video will be digitally filmed & edited with music of your choice and you will receive two copies of the wedding
on DVD.

i don't know if i'm going to go for it, but for anyone who's interested here's the info!

oh boy. this all sounds familiar. my other have looked at the $700 pkg and said he didn't see any value in it!!  when I said I was looking at the $1350 one, well. I won't repeat what he said.  lol  I'm worried too that little hidden costs are going to start coming out of the woodwork.... then I'll really have something to answer for!!
