Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

I agree, I am not sweating the small stuff. I wanted a destination wedding for the simplicity, it is one day, its next 50 + that count. I am very much a perfectionist but I am just rolling with the wedding. Whats matters is that two people who are in love are making it official ! :)

Can you give your travel agent info to me?  She sounds awesome.

We are with a travel agent from Guelph (like 1 hour from Toronto but will travel anywhere to help) who is a destination wedding specialist and her niece got married at GBJ so I would highly recommend her. PM me if your interested in her details...she has litetally done everything for me so far and I have no worries, I ask her a question and she is back to me in like 5 min and if she doesnt know she contacts Beverly right away and I have my answer back by the end of the day, because as you have heard on here she isnt the easiest to get along with, further she contacts me every few weeks to see if she can help and to see what else is going on...like I sad she is AMAZING!!! and I would highly recommend her!!

Hello all GBPJ brides!

Just a quick question, wondering if anybody here can help.  I've decided to forgo bouquets for my bridesmaids and have them carry white parasols instead.  I keep hearing from everyone that it's super windy in the afternoon, so I'm picturing crazy monsoon winds haha....does anyone know if paper parasols would hold up okay, or would they get destroyed by the wind?

Thanks!

Hi Girls...

Found a wonderful bride that just got married at GBPJ a few weeks ago and she was so kind as to answer some of my questions that only an experienced bride could help with!  :)  So here's our chat...hopefully it will be as helpful to ya'll as it was to me!  Bear with me...its kinda long though!

HER:  another thing i have thought of that you may find usefull to know, is the price on the photographs.
if you decide to use the hotel photographers/videographer, thier advertised price is way over the top, but do not pay what they are asking! they took 650 photos and we had planned to buy 50, and were getting 10 free as part of our package. we ended up choosing 80 pictures, getting 4 copies of the dvd, 2 copies of all 650 pictures on a cd and the 80 we chose on a cd. they wanted almost $3000 for it and we managed to drive them down to $1300, so make sure you shift them on the price! they will sell them to you for well under half of what they origianally ask.

ME:   One question I did think of yesterday was how did you do the walking down the aisle part? We have 5 bridesmaids...so I don't know how to plan that part...did your now hubby :) stand at the gazebo with the groomsmen and the bridesmaids walk by themselves...? I just don't know how to stay out of sight...
Second...did you have a rehearsal at all the day before or anything?

HER:  i had 5 bridesmaids too, i also had my mother and my ring barer walk down the aisle. the wedding van thing will take your bridal party to the end of the aisle, and park at the top of some steps, you will be totally out of the way until your ready to walk down yourself.(your hubby will not see you til you walk down as there are flowers/shrubbery type things either side of the steps)
this is the way it was done-
hubby was waiting with his best man at the gazebo; my mum and my brother (ring barer) walked down together, and then stood either side of my hubby then my 2 adult bridesmaids walked down seperatly
i had 3 young flower girls that all walked together, (the wedding planner will explain when everyone needs to start walking)
then my song started, and my uncle and i walked down the steps to the top of the aisle then to the gazebo together, where my mum was stood at the top of the steps at the gazebo to take my veil off my face and ''give me'' to my FI so to speak.
we had a rehersal the night before the wedding, as im sure you will too, and they will explain everything to you.
also, they tell you to have 5 songs to give them-
bridal party entrance
bride's entrance
signing the register
exiting the gazebo
first dance.
but, the signing the register took longer than our chosen song and they chose another one for us to play, they chose a lovley track very similar to what we had but i would suggest tht you pick 2 for them to play if you dont want them to chose another for you.
hope this helps, and anything else you need to know, just ask!

ME:  That helps tremendously! Thank you very much! Now just to decide if I want the groomsmen to walk down the aisle with the bridesmaids, or have them walk by themselves...I would feel bad for my hubby to have to stand up there all by his lonesome! :)

Did you all go to dinner together after the rehearsal? Is Beverly there with you for it? And do you remember about what time that occurred? We have some of our wedding party trying to plan for things to do, but they want to be sure they schedule around all the wedding events.

HER: yes, we all went to the buffet after the rehersal, its a little difficult to get booked into one of the speciality resturants all together if you are in a large party, but guest relations could probably sort it for you if you were to contact them before you arrive.

beverly's assistant, chandolyn was there with us for the rehersal and she is more than likely to be with you on the wedding day as well as beverly. chandlyn was at the gazebo before the wedding with the other guests, and beverly was with me at the lobby making sure everything was happening on time.
our weding rehersal was at 6:00pm, it lasted about half an hour. i emailed ahead to arrange times with beverly as there were also things we wanted to do, she was very flexible so im sure she will arrange a time with you to suit your plans

Wow! The info about the hotel photographer is definitely helpful! I'm sure that applies to any of the hotels. We are heading to RPTB next week, and my daughter is using their photographer. I thought their prices were ridiculous...and now I see how to handle it. Thank you so much for sharing that!

Hi everyone,

I finally heard back from Beverly and she answered some of my questions...  I also asked her to confirm my wedding date and time as she hasn't charged my credit card with my deposit yet, and she wrote back saying I was confirmed for April 4, when I booked it April 5!!!  I almost had a heart attack, but then she wrote back right away saying it was a typo, and I was booked for April 5 - whew!!!  We have some guests flying in late on the 4th, so that would not have been good!

Anyway - to share my info - she sent me the current menu choices, but warned that it is subject to change.  Here's a copy for anyone that wants an idea of what may be available:
