Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Welcome to this site!

I had a lot of trouble with the wedding planners emailing me back during the beginning of the planning.  However, I found as my wedding date came closer they responded faster.  They do up to 3 weddings per day every day so thats busy for them.  The prioritize the weddings that are immenent or soon up coming.  I also found it helped it I didnt get a response in a few weeks to resend the email.  She told me once that they get so many emails a day that often they don't receive them all because of the non reliable internet in Jamaica.  Try resending your questions or look on here to see if you can find the answer.  We didn't choose our package until probably 3 months before our wedding.  We went with the free wedding and didn't have to pay anything until we were at the resort.

I am getting married May 15 2013 and I am already feeling panicked!

I was confirmed for my date in August and I have emailed the coordinators at the Gran Bahia Jamaica about 10 times since. I have only receieved one email of them saying "if you have questions please email"

I already did email them with questions and STILL haven't heard back. On September 17 I emailed about how to pay for my package and a list of questions and STILL haven't heard back

Ive emailed several times since that day and nothing. I receieved an email from "wedding planner 2" (no name??) and it said "Thanks for choosing us Vanessa! What can we help you with for your wedding?" on October 1st..... I emailed her right back with the questions and nothing in almost 2.5 weeks...... I have even called front desk and they say "Yeah I can see them sitting there, Ill transfer you!"
and then no one picks up the phone...............

Am I way behind? :( Should I have paid or at least picked my package by now!?!?

Can anyone suggest how else to get a hold of them....?

Thanks!!

I wanted to use parasols instead of flowers but I'm really glad I didn't.  It is really super windy down by the gazebo and I'm afraid they probably wouldnt have worked with the wind.  Instead we just took some pictures with them after the wedding and used bouquets during the wedding. Hope the helps!

I work up north in Alberta and I work 21 days straight and am only home for 7 days out of the month. Its been crazy busy trying to spend time with the fiance while im home and see friends and family and still get stuff done for the wedding.I have some questions for all you helpful ladies:

We have booked the pisces, I am wondering if anyone else has had their wedding there and if they have any pictures.

Also I thought I saw someone mention that there is a videographer? Are they at the resort? Are they very pricey?

Does anyone have any pictures of the bouquets that they let you choose from or a catalogue? I have emailed Chandlynn about this but have not heard back.

I kind of would like to have my bridesmaids with parasols, but Im not too sure if it would be too windy for those, or to have them do flowers?

AHHHHH , sorry for all of the questions, I am so happy to have the help and advice from all of the brides on here.

Oh, also we just got our engagements photos back and they are absolutely amazing, so happy with them, if I figure out how to post pics on here I will share.

You ladies will probably see me around here more often now that the big day is coming up.

Thanks everyone!!!

Thanks for your reply JayKay!!

I have had a horrible experience this week.. I was told the restaurants had no room and we had to pay 2500$ for a private room at the Palmyra?

I cant even find the Palmyra on their website... Can anyone tell me if they have been to it?? And did you have to pay the 2500$ ?? I am a little bothered by this.... :(

I asked in AUGUST for a restaurant and they told me to wait til a later date that was closer to my wedding?!?!?

I can't beleive they wouldn't have a restraurant for your dinner, and if they don't they can't make you pay the $2500 to rent the restaurant.  The Palmyra is one of the buffets.  How many guests are you having? I know sometimes if you are having a really large number of guests they make you have a private dinner.

I may have asked this before, but i was wondering if anyone knows about renting the gazebo.....Im renting it, but not the dj or bar. I know some ppl bring there ipod or cd...just wondering how this works....can these hook up to speakers??? thanks

Oh cool, we depart on the 6th!!  Are you flying out of Toronto?  Anyhow, we have also booked the Gazebo and when I asked, Chandlyn told me that there is electricity out there, so I assume you could hook up your own speakers.  We are going to bring some hanging lights and/or lanterns to plug in.  I also asked her about a microphone for some speeches...this is a possibility, but of course at a cost (like everything else it seems)!!    Anyhow, hope this helps!!  Jenn

Hey everyone, I was wanting to plan a dinner for all of our guests the first night we are on Jamaica, any suggestions ? I cant decide between Don Pablo, Dolce Vita, or The Grill, or are there any other  options? I know I want to do Mikado with my bridal party the evening before the wedding, so that one is out.

Thanks ladies

Those are the only restaurants other then the buffets.  When we were there we seen a large group in the buffet and they were off to one side kind of on their own.  As to the other restaurants I think any of them would be good for a dinner.

They FINALLY got back to me

I have 60 guests going so they can only offer me the Palmyra. They sent me pictures and it looks really well done which is a good sign. Has anyone had their wedding dinner there? She said we can have it with the Dolce Vita menu which is great.
