Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I can't believe that the time has finally come and we're leaving one week tomorrow!  Wow, where has the time gone?!?!  We took this week off to visit family in Florida (and work on our tans before the wedding) as a "pre-moon" of sorts so now I'm feeling somewhat out of the loop!  All of our packing is done (I hope) and now its just the waiting game!

Any last minute things that we should be thinking about?  Things you would have done in the last stretch leading up to the big day?  Words of wisdom? We're so excited and can't wait to get going!  Will definitely be back with pics and reviews upon our return!

If she says a wedding pass, she means the $75 fee pass for vendors coming onto the resort.

I heard back from Donnalee today (I cc her when I emailed Chandlyn, can't believe it took less then 12 hrs for a reply) and her response to my question about a fee for using Rashel for my hair and makeup was....If Rashel will only be doing your hair and make-up and not stay for the ceremony, there will be no additional fee. However, if she will be staying until the ceremony, you will be required to purchase the wedding pass for her.  Now when she says wedding pass I am assuming the $20 for an additional person but I think I will verify that to make sure.

I'll let you know if I get anymore info, hope this helps :)

ha ha I can do this now since we've now been married almost 2 1/2 months... but words of wisdom??  that's easy -RELAX!!!!  it will all work out and go just fine. just remember it's Jamaica and things do work differently. but the resort has tons of experience - they do 2, 3, 4 weddings a day sometimes. try hard not to stress out!  we picked a destination wedding because it's supposed to be easier than doing the big doo here at home. sometimes I feel sorry for some of the brides on here that are getting so stressed about things.  relax ladies. Chandlyn is the consummate professional and all of you will have an absolutely wonderful day!!!

WOW!!! I have spent almost everyday of my Christmas holidays on this thread reading through ALL 304 pages!!! I have learned so much from all of the future and past brides on this forum. My FI and I got engaged in May of this year and knew that we wanted a destination wedding. We really wanted to go somewhere different, and wanted costa rica. We found it was far too expensive and not alot of AI resorts there. We then started looking at Cuba and Panama, anywyas long story short the BGP is where we want to get married. I called my travel agent up and told her this was the place! so we are just waiting to hear back with some rates so we can set a date.We told our TA anytime between Jan-May of 2013(whichever is cheapest and still good weather) We are so set on this resort, I sure hope that the rates come back resonable(fingers crossed). We will find out in the new year. So excited to start booking and planning things!!!

@ acw271011 -  Thanks, I have an email back to the WC to clarify, but it doesn't really make sense to me that they only charge the $75 if she stays until/through the ceremony and not for her coming in period....they do things so funky sometimes :)

@ BusyBee123 and JayKay - so exciting for you both, can't wait to see pictures and hear the details!!  Just enjoy and cherish the moments :)

@ cdnbridelinzy - Congratulations, your gonna love it on here.  I too just finished going through all the pages and everyone is so nice and helpful, providing so much information.  My FI and I knew we wanted DW when we got engaged in Sept. 2011 and I wanted to decide as soon as possible to give our guests enough time to plan for it.  We had a couple resorts picked out in Dominican, Mexico and Jamaica (which is what I really wanted) and when we met with out TA he helped us narrow it down to GBP.  He helped us decide on when to go using 2012 pricing because we aren't until Feb. 2013.  My FI wanted to travel when the weather is crappy here and everyone is ready to get away from winter.  We found the pricing to be reasonable mid Jan to mid Feb then it started to go up around Mar.; sure it probably starts to go down after spring break season but my FI doesn't want to go when it's starting to get nice here :)  So exciting!! Happy Planning!!

Hi ladies. Well, we're settling into married life now. I can't believe it's pretty much 2 1/2 months since we were in Jamaica and I so badly want to go back!!  We loved GBP so much and they went so far out of their way for us it was unbelievable. I think a lot of that is because they took pity on us with all of our plans falling apart and having to change our date. I still would do it all again in a heartbeat!!

The one thing that fell by the wayside was the flower girl outfit I bought that my supposed MOH friend returned to me wrapped up as a wedding gift at our AHR on Nov 5th. I will say only that I was heartbroken because never was anything said about returning it. It was a gift so I would never in a million years have asked for it back. But, get it back I did. Not of my own doing. The thing is now I have nothing to do with it. All the tags are still on everything. None of it was ever worn or used so if you know anyone that is looking for a complete flower girl outfit, I've posted pictures. It is so adorable when it's all put together. I also have the necklace and earring sets I bought for my MOH and her daughter. She returned those too, and the silver headband I got for her to wear. There is no reason to keep any of it.

sorry - I hit submit and I wasn't ready to. all of the above are unused and tags are still on.  I would like $125 for the complete flower girl outfit and if I look around I still have the bills to show how much I actually paid for all of it.  the necklace sets were $30 each and the headband was $25 because it's only the single row of rhinestones. the shawl was also to match the MOH dress so its in Guava. the flower girl outfit is Davids Bridal Watermelon with the Guava coordinating sash and flower hairband, the shoes and flip fops are in Watermelon. the dress is size 4 and the shoes and flip flops are child size 11/12. the sash is a one size.

you can pm me here if you know anyone that might be interested.

Thanks Kim, have you guys actually booked your date with the hotel, my TA says it may be too far away to actually book the date through the hotel, but I had told her that I have seen a couple of brides on this forum who look like they are already booked in 2013. Good to know about the rates in Jan-feb may be cheaper, we figured we would go more around march-april cuz it would be cheaper, but I guess we will have to see what the rates come back like. where are you guys flying out of. And what are the rates that you got, if you dont mind me asking. I am getting so excited, but i dont want to get too ahead of myself and find out the rates are too high.
