Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

We are doing a welcome excursion and OOT bags for our guests.  I can't wait to surprise everyone with everything!  A few weeks out we are sending a letter and luggage tags that I made to everyone to get them excited.

Our guests are arriving on Thursday and I'm trying to figure out how to get everyone their bags (I asked Bev/Chandlyn about it but haven't heard back yet).  Does anyone know how they are getting them to their guests?  I was hoping I could have the front desk hand them out or something but I'm not sure I trust leaving them at the front desk all day...

But anyway so far we are have:

-Hand sanitizers from Bath and Body Works

-Flip flops from Old Navy

-Flip Flop playing cards (7.99/dozen OT)

-Squirt guns

-Bubble Bath tablets

-Silly Bands in luau shapes (I know kinda dumb but at my bachelorette party we had a 'consultant' who showed us the latest toys..if you know what I mean...and she gave us silly bands in shapes of well...'parts' and it will be funny for them to get the bracelets in their bags)

-first aid kits, pepto, tylenol, etc

-Just started making our "Jamaica Facebook" which is a front and back page of pictures of everyone (thank you facebook!), name, relation to us, and where they traveled from.  I'm going to get them printed out and put one in each bag so everyone knows who is who.

-Passport Covers that I'm going to mae.  I got a sewing machine for xmas..bought super cute material..now it's just learning how to make them and finding time to get it all done!

-I ordered personalized OOT bags from Oriental Trading (24 bags for $29..not bad!)  Here is a pic: I love them!

Still hoping to get:

-Stadium Cups (prob going to order from Ebay)

-aloe

-face clothes or bath puffs

-key card holders (I got my BM's cute Coach ones but everyone is getting plastic ones...as cheap as I can find!)

-chap stick

-pashminas for the girls

-puzzle books & Pens

-also going to get some Jamaican postcards to stick in the bags, addressed to us with a stamp so that when we get home from our honeymoon, we'll have mail :)

On Friday we are taking everyone on a snorkeling cruise in Ochos Rios then off to Margaritaville for a bit.  We found a great tour from Jaital Tours and it was only $32 p/p, transportation from Resort included :)  So we also might put a disposable underwater camera in the bags...but not sure are going to be able to find them cheap enough.

Can't wait to hear everyone else's ideas!

Tris, I wouldn't think that you would have to pay that much!  :)  Call your TA and see if they have them on staff...ours would do it for free but we had our best man do it as he is one himself.

I wish Chandlyn would get her story straight... I don't really want to pay a lawyers 100s of $$ for something that's unnecessary

Tris-  that was my issue too - that's why I sent mine in late - I had a friend who was a lawyer, but he didn't have his stamp yet, and I didn't want to pay someone considering I wasn't sure if they actually NEEDED to be notarized in the first place...  Especially since I paid $60 to get our long form birth certificates and then found out afterwards that our wallet sized ones were fine!

But, if you already sent them everything and they didn't come back, and Katelynn was told hers were fine un-notarized then I wouldn't worry too much.....  Maybe bring your passports and birth certs when you go to a lawyer for the closing on your new house, and see if he will do it for you then?  A lot of lawyers won't charge if you are already a customer...  And really, what's a few more signatures on top of the hunders that are a needed for a new house!!That way you can bring notarized copies with you when you go in April in case they need them........

Missy - I think it's more difficult to be a notary in Canada - we don't have them in banks and stuff like in the states......  IT was going to be between $150-200 for us if we had to pay for it!

It's a bit different here in Canada. It isn't just anyone that can be a Notary. A Commissioner of Oaths, yes, but not a Notary. And the fees here are quite a bit higher than the US because of the certification required. You have to be a lawyer, paralegal or law clerk to be a Notary. We looked at getting married in Mexico and everything - all of your documents - have to be translated to Spanish first, then notarized and certified by the Consulate. We gave up the idea because we were looking at easily $700 in translation and notarial fees!!  Generally, no matter where you go documents such as birth certificate or passport copies have to be notarized, as somebody else said, to prove that what you're sending is really yours and that it's legit.  They may start the processing of your marriage licence in Jamaica without the notarized copies but to everyone, I would be prepared with both your original to show and a notarized copy to leave in Jamaica. If you haven't been married before, it isn't that expensive for just a birth certificate. In Ontario you should be able to get both copies (bride & groom) done for between $50 and $100. It will be more if, like us, you've been married before and need to notarize divorce decrees too.  Hope that helps!

as to the OOT bags - WOW! some of you are really putting them together. My question is how the heck are you going to get all of that stuff down with you?????  I love everybody that is going to be at our wedding but not to the extent that I'm willing to pay a fortune to the airline to get the stuff down there!!  I like some of the smaller ideas though!!

We each get two free bags through Delta so I think we are planning to use two of them for us and two of them for wedding stuff...hopefully we'll have room! lol.  I definitely don't want to spend a ton to get everything down there.  We are getting stadium cups bc they stack...I have no idea how brides get mugs with handles down there....they would take up so much room!

All this talk about birth certificates means I guess I should start figuring out what we need to send in soon.  Thanks ladies for reminding me!

Tris - I too ordered my long form birth certificates.. Our new ones have holograms and a raised stamp and I scanned and emailed these to Beverly & Chandlyn. I am still trying to confirm whether it is ok what I've sent. I also scanned and emailed the passports.

I'm thinking what I sent is just fine, I too paid 70 for my new BC to get the long form, I can't afford another 300 in fees!!

I'm emailing Chandlyn again now. I will keep you posted.

Thanks katelynn for all of the ideas. You did a lot! I wont be able to do that many things, but your post was very helpful. Where did you find the Jamaican drink guide?
