Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Our group was told to be at the gazebo at 3:45pm for our 4pm ceremony.  While I was getting ready they all met at the lobby bar around 3:30ish and all went down to the gazebo together.  It really wasn't planned that way but I guess it just happened that way!

We did a pre travel brochure we sent out about 2 months in advance that included information about the wedding day, such as what time to be at the gazebo and what time supper was.  We also included that information on our welcome letter in our OOT bags.  You could maybe include something in there in regards to wedding day activities.

While Im getting ready, I was going to tell people they can meet my fiance at a certain bar..or lobby or something to have a drink with him before they all head over to the gazebo.

Would you recommend any bars that they could all meet at?

Thanks

They are two total different resaurants.  The Dolce Vita is Italian and the Garden Grill is more like a steakhouse.  We had our reception at the Grill and we loved it.  I think however, the Dolce Vita has a more private room for wedding dinners.

Just wondering where any of the past brides have order their paper lanterns from? I found what I think may be a good deal online at the paperlanternstore.com. 12" paper lanterns for 1.20. The only thing that I am worried about is the shipping and duty. The shipping is about $25, and I am worried of what the duty might end up as. Has anyone ordered them from any place in Canada at a good price?  Or anyone order from ebay, and what kind of duty you  may have paid.

I think I may have fallen a little behind on ordering some things, alot of the stuff on ebay is from china and takes about 30-40 days to get here, and I am getting married in just over a month, so some of those places may not be an option for me anymore undecided.gif

Thanks ladies

Hi cdnbridelinzy,

I ordered my lanterns about 2mths ago from skylantern.com.  I think they worked out to be $2.50 per lantern, we decided to do one lantern per couple.  We paid about $20 in shipping and did not have to pay any additional duties to get them across the border....they were delivered right to our door and only took about 10 days to arrive. Hope this helps!!

I ordered things from these two sites before and both are Canadian sites which means no duties and other fees, plus faster shipping and probably cheaper shipping costs.  I would think it would be safer to pay more and order from a Canadian site especially with Christmas right around the corner as shipping from the states will take even longer.  Here are the sites I would recommend:

The Dolce Vita does have a seperate room that they use for weddings, it fit our group of 30 very comfortably yet may not be suitable for very large groups. We were there is June of this year and The Grill had absolutely no A/C. We had dinner one night there during our stay and could barely eat it was so hot! Our dinner was at Dolce Vita and the foud was amazing! Much better than the actual dinner served. They did however print all of our menus with the wrong information so it was a surprise to everyone but no one seemed to mind and most didn't even notice. My one piece of advice is not to sweat the small stuff, chances are something will happen just don't let it ruin your day!

I highly reccommend weddingstar.com. We got almost all of our decorations through them including out cake topper and were pleased with the quality of the items as well as the price. They have so many options to choose from and are Canadian so limited tax and shipping charges. Just keep in mind the weight of the items as they tend to add up quickly. We brought an extra bag just for decorations as it was much cheaper than paying for an overweight bag.

Confirm with the wedding planners as they seem to change their minds on what they need as documentation. For us they needed notarized copies of our Birth Certificates with the fathers name present and a notarized copy of our passports. The birth certificate is the original long format which generally has to be ordered from the provincial government if you do not have the original from your birth. It is relatively cheap and easy to order but does take a few weeks for them to ship it. If you only have the short form without fathers names present, then your certificate will not have the fathers names present and will simply say 'null'. Hope this helps. Also as a note bring all emails with you as they do change their minds so frequently this will ensure that you brought what was asked of you.

Thanks!
