BDW Buy/Sell forum: Use at your own risk!

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies,

It has been reported by a few members that their transactions did not go smoothly.

Some of the problems that are occuring are:

1. dress arrived with a stain on it

2. seller never sent out items

3. buyer never sent out payment

Please do your own due dilligence when participating in a transaction in this forum. The forum and its moderators do not mediate or share any of the responsibility for transactions gone awry.

Buy, Sell, Trade, or Freebies! This is the place to buy or sell your used or unused wedding products (table linens, candles, decorations etc.) The Best Destination Wedding Forum does not represent or endorse the accuracy or reliability of items for sale/trade through this website by a third party. You acknowledge that any purchases made to a third party shall be at your sole risk and BDW Forum shall bear no responsibility.
It is best to try to be smart in the situation.

Ask many questions regarding the condition of the property, when you will receive it, what happens if the item received was not as advertised, you did not get item in a timely manner, etc.

Do NOT send check or cash. use paypal so you at least might have a chance at recovering your funds if you do not receive the items.

any other tips?

Great Thread Tammy!!!

Also ladies i suggest taking a look at the post count / profile of the member who is selling stuff. If they haven't been around very long or only have a few posts - that is a red flag right there.

Good Luck!

Would love if if BDW could implement some sort of feedback mechanism for sellers/buyers.. Even if it's something like a subforum for feedback instead of an integrated system that tracks feedback.... It would be very beneficial for sellers (to establish themselves as trustworthy) and buyers (to trust the sellers)..

just an idea.

That would be a great idea if it was possible. Something like how Ebay shows the feedback. Is this something the forum can do or has looked into in the past?

You have to keep in mind that this is a wedding planning forum. It wasn't created as a buy/sell forum, but it does have this as an added benefit to it's users. And since the forum is funded personally by Tammy (and free to its members), I'm not sure that is something that would be on the short-term (or even long-term) goals for the forum.

As Carly said this is a wedding planning and information sharing forum NOT Ebay. Also remember that most people who sell wedding stuff do so 1 or 2 times - there are not many "repeat" sellers.

Unfortunately, you all need to assume all personal risk when deciding to buy or sell anything.

thanks,

Most people on here only buy & sell a few times, so adding a feedback system might not protect anyone. Before I buy anything on a forum, I take a look to see if they are an active member & I get a feeling that I can trust them. I've never been screwed on a forum purchase before & I've done some fairly large transactions buying photography equipment.
