Don't get too discouraged about your dress before you even get to start looking! They don't all cost a small fortune and I can say that my dress, including all costs for alterations and everything, was still under $1000. I'm not sure how small a budget you've got but you'll find a dress you love that fits it don't worry!

thanks ladies :)

i am not super discouraged just yet...just wary, hehe. i am also a plus sized gal, so dress shopping may be a bit of a tough experience from the get-go. but i am excited, and i know my FI will love me no matter what i am wearing. i just want to feel beautiful!

Def go try on dresses to find out what looks good - I thought I knew what style I wanted, and realized the style I wanted - well it didnt want me I guess...lol....Just go in there with a great attitude and you will find your dream dress. Just dont let the sales ladies show you anything over and above your max limit - bc that will be when you find a dress that you LOVe and cant afford it - then nothing will compare to that dress and you will neve be happy with anything you pick. It worked great for me and I am happy with my choice.
You will be beautiful in whichever dress you choose - your FI wont care - he just wants to marry you - you probably could be wearing a paper bag and he would still be happy and think your beautiful. Dont stress over the dress too much - I know its a big deal...but you will find the right one for you!

Good luck!
Jenny you are too funny. The dress came before the proposal. Good advice too. I'm living proof you should not try on dresses that are not in your budget. Now, not only am I seriously considering buying the expensive one, I've already bought a budget friendly one too! And that is definatly NOT budget friendly.

Tomorrow is the day I'm going back to visit my "dress that got away". Not sure what I'll do yet because if I really want it, I need to order it like yesterday. Stay tuned tomorrow....

totally off topic ladies - can anyone suggest a fabulous hairdresser in town?

preferably in the SE, but i could venture elsewhere if need be.

i have decided to cut my almost waist length hair back into a pixie cut (yes, before the wedding)...and being new to town, i haven't had my hair cut here yet. and when going for such a drastic change, i don't want a friggin hair-student to do it...lol

thanks!

haha....your hilarious....I love it ..."the dress that got away"...well I feel for you...just remember - your only going to wear it once.....I bought the expensive dress my first wedding - and all it did was collect dust in a box in my closet after the wedding. I never wore it or saw it again.
Remember you will look beautiful and stunning in any dress -he hasnt seen it so hewont know any different either. He wont care - so long as your there marrying him. Why pay for the expensive dress when you already have one - put that money towards something else....just a thought.

Either way - have fun visiting the dress...lol - your too cute!

Boo - Wow, your dress is AMAZING. I love it, and when I go dress shopping I'm sure I will try one on just like it, just not sure it will fit me right!

Kayley - Awesome planning thread! Have fun!! Can't wait to see pictures!!!

MayanLily - Its tough you feel not right about your dress, I would definitely sell the one you have now and find THE one!!

Pam - I haven't started dress shopping yet either, so I don't even know what prices consist of but you will find the one for the right price! :) Happy shopping, I'll be in the same boat soon enough!
