Is a Welcome Dinner expected?

Recommended Posts

I would have your TA talk the resort into giving you a free "welcome dinner" you are bringing them so much business. They owe that to you, And the resort is all-inclusive, isn't it?
I would not stress over this!! Get your TA on the telephone!!

Yeah I was thinking of having the travel agent try to get me an extra hour or some kind of discount on the private dinner. I figured she would be able to work her magic and get something

We are doing a private coctail hr at one of their outside locations on Friday night , followed by a dinner. Then on Saturday we are sending everybody to the lobby bar after ceremony for drinks if they wish ( while we are taking photos) and then we meet again at 6pm for the private reception. I decided to do it this way because I read that some guests wanted to freshen up before the reception, other wanted to socialize... either way we would not be able to enjoy the coctail hr ( either would the bridal party) because of the pictures being taken right after the ceremony.( I heard that took people a lot of time, too)

Since we decided to pay extra and have a private reception, I asked our wedding coordinator if we could have the reception meal that was included in our wedding package as a wedding rehearsal dinner.. it was no problem! cheers.gif

I find that the WCs dont tend to tell you much so you have to ask.. I wouldnt have thought of asking to have the meal thats included if i didnt read it on here! We're paying for it so why not! If u dont ask.. you dont get! She sent me the menu for it too.. it looks lovely!! and theyre giving us a private part of the restaurant for it xxx

Everyone is arriving Saturday, so we are having a Welcome Party that night.  My parents are throwing it in their suite and we are having cocktails, tacos, chips, and salsa.  Welcome to Mexico everyone!

My mom is also creating a daily drink using our names ("Danberry Vodka" and "Kristini"). So everyone is welcome to stop in for the drink of the day every day/evening.

I really like the idea of giving guests time to freshen up after the ceremony and before the reception.  The only problem is that my resort is only giving me 5 hours for my private event.  I think the clock starts ticking during the ceremony...but I'm not sure.  I definiftely need to ask.

We are staying at an all-inclusive resort and we just asked the wedding coordinator about booking a section of the restuarant for a welcome dinner and they were more than accomodating. We thought it was a perfect time for the families to all meet and spend some time together before the weekend. We also wanted to make sure that everyone felt included in the wedding even if they were not in the wedding party.
