Did you ever want to change your resort?

Recommended Posts

OK, so I have a track record of being indecisive.... :)

But has anyone wanted to or changed their resort during the planning process? We picked Beaches Boscobel over ROR at our travel agent's suggestion. However, it has always been in the back of my mind that I kind of wanted to go with RIU. I know it is a newer property, which was pretty important to me, whereas Boscobel is older, etc.

We need a family resort, since my FIs brother is bringing all three of his little kids! But they happened to be the only group that is bringing any children at all. I just keep worrying that Beaches is going to be too family oriented for our group. Has anyone been here, and if so, what were your thoughts? I am just worried there won't be much nightlife there or something!

I have never been to either but if it makes you feel any better I have been having second thoughts about ROR because sooooo many people have their weddings there and Im afraid we'll just be pushed out of the way. Ive heard that beaches it beautiful though, there are good reviews on it!

I did check on one of the dates threads and I saw how many there were....must be a great place! I am sure Beaches will be wonderful...you know how it is though, when you start thinking of other options. It would be way too late to change anything now anyway I guess!

Wow your date is coming up close, has anyone in your group booked or paid yet? You have to consider that as well.

If it makes you feel better, I loved Beaches. I had more fun there than at Sandals, where we went for the honeymoon. And the wedding coordinator there is great. Also, if you guys need a break from the kids, drop them off in the daycare and go to Eleanor's (adults only).

I totally know what you mean!! I am getting married at Beaches Turks and Caicos and I didnt do much research and I basically decided right away that is where we would go. Our friends got married there and kids are allowed and they had such great things to say about it. I knew I wouldnt choose Jamaica because my parents wouldnt go. So when I get on the forum and saw where everyone else is getting married makes me wonder if I did enough research and makes feel like I should have chosen differently.

Turks and Caicos definitely sounds more exotic! wink.gif I am guessing it is more expensive, right?

And yes, we have around 35 booked right now so I am sure I would never actually switch. People would think I was a complete bridezilla. :) michelle6114, I am so glad you had such an awesome experience there. I just had a few complain they felt the resort was too family oriented, so I started to get worried people weren't going to have a good time or something.

You can always do some adults only activities, Dunn's River tour was $40.00 pp including the trip there, but not appropriate for little kids. There is Margaritaville, which I heard was great. There is a tour/excursion desk right there ouside by the pool. Are you going to Sandals after your family leaves?

Another awesome experience, the Dolphin Cove dolphin swim. $220 pp but so exillerating you will not regret paying that much.

Yes, we definitely want to an excursion of some type...and after we are at Beaches, we will be going to Couples San Souci for 3 nights by ourselves, so we will also get a different experience there.

I have been trying to think of an excursion to do. Margaritaville might be the ticket. We went to another friend's wedding a couple years back and did Dunn's River then. I would love to do the dolphin thing but it might be a little too steep for everyone we have coming. Too bad!

I'm so indicisive too! it took me a long time to pick my resort, GBP, but i'm still happy with it. but really, it doesn't matter where you get married, right, as long as your Mr is there.

I can't really imagine it would be overwhelmed with families, it is Jamaica and more expensive than most places. i think if you were in mexico you might have more to worry about. i've been to family resorts and there is never more than a handful of kids. you'll love it, just don't think about the What Ifs. have fun!!
