I know! La Belle is great - that's why they got me to spend so much there!! I bought an Alvina Vallenta (I totally butchered that name). There is a pic of it somewhere in that big wedding dress thread. It comes in in Aug and I'll take pics then.

Are you going to Bridal Garden? My #2 dress was there. They are really nice there too.

I set limits for myself right from the beginning. I was afraid I'd fall in love with something really expensive and would feel forced to buy it. So, I never tried on anything more than $1500. I must have tried on literally 100 dresses before I found the one that was "right" for me. I actually ended up a 2 dress bride because I bought an informal dress (but used it for my TTD pics) then decided i wanted something more formal. I spent around $800 for dress & veil. My dress was by Allure Bridal.

I almost bought a dress that was around $500. I liked it and thought it would do.... then when I was out looking for a headpiece I found this other dress. I LOVED it immediately. The lady in the store told me to try it on..so I did. I couldn't believe it, I knew it was my dress even though is was $1150 plus tax. I guess it's different for everyone.

I'd keep looking though, for the cost of the changes you want on top of the cost of the dress, you could more than likely find one you LOVE for less money.

I know shame on me!!! Everyone here has a pic of their dress except me. I saw the hem of my dress in the current issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. Every now and then I will open the magazine and just stare at it while my FI is sitting right next to me. Little does he know that I am staring at my dress. rofl.gif

I paid $1200 for mine and it was originally $1700. the only alteration I will need is some padding (gotta fake the boobs), so it shouldn't be more than $100. I had promised myself that I wouldn't spend over a $1000 but I tried all the David's bridal ones and a few other less expensive brands and I just didn't fall in love. My bridal consultant brought in my dress to show me the color on the sash and I had to try it on!

Don't worry about the "knowing it's the one". I thought something was wrong with me too because I sat with my MOH and mom for a good 40 minutes going between two dresses. My dress didn't make me burst into tears or scream or anything like that so i doubted it for a bit. But I went back to try it on again with all my BMs and I just loved it!! I didn't want to take it off!

Oh and the back of the dress is extremely important!! That is what everyone is staring at the whole time...you at the alter, you walking away, your first dance, etc. Its one of the reasons I love my dress so much

Here it is to prove it...the back is more ornate than the front:

Same dress, same price, same thought :)
I'm also going to wear the same dress the next day to do my ttd session, then I have to lug it back in a back on the plane....yuk...oh well.

It's so amazing to hear that a lot of us gals don't get that "It's the dress feeling." I'm really glad to hear that because I thought I was going nuts. Thanks for all the good advice! I am going to keep looking for something less expensive; because in reality....it wasn't the perfect dress.....and for that amount of money....I could afford a whole years worth of Foverer 21 outfits...sheesh! blush2.gif Thanks again....keep telling me about your dress experiences..it helps so I know what to look out for smile03.gif

It will be about $1500. I go in on Thursday to pay the deposit.

It is at the very first store I went to try on dresses. I narrowed it down to two there. Eventhough I really loved those two dresses I figured I needed to keep looking. I went to four other dress stores and there was one that was $410 that was pretty nice and one that was a completely different style that was $3600 (yikes!).

The dress I am going to buy is the Augusta Jones Jolie. It is the one I compared all other dress to and I feel very comfortable and more me than any of the others I tried on.

I totally intend to wear it again to run around the house and kick back with a beer :)

I spent a lot on my dress...I orginally wanted a Monique L'huillier dress and my mom almost bought it for me it was $10,000..I felt bad about spending that much so I kept looking an found a similar dress by Alfred Sung which was around $2800...I spent just over $1000 for custom made silk flowers and some alterations to make it look like the original ML dress plus the veil and crinoline I spend just about $4300 on my dress...OOOps at least I saved just over $5000 so I'm happy.

I don't regret my decision at all, I loved my dress the way it looked felt and how great it looked in pics...sorry I know I'm probably making your decision harder here but I say go for what you love (don't look at the price tag cheesy.gif)
