Hi Jamie,
I would be glad to try to answer your questions, and perhaps work with you, however if you are under deposit with another agent, it could be a bit sticky to change in the middle of your booking. - Hopefully the other TA is not one of ours from here on BDW as we do not ever compete with one another. I specialize in Cancun / Riviera Maya, so if that is your area and you would like talk with me I would be happy to do that!

Feel free to PM me or email at [email protected]

Best regards,

TA Wendy

Thanks Tammy!! I am feeling better already about my travel agent situation! Everything else (with the help of your awesome site) seems so easy! I found and ordered my flowers, interviewed many photographers and found one we love! And all sorts of other things have come so easily..until we spoke with our first travel agent! Then my nerves started going! Your reassurance is calming me down already!!!! Thanks so much again!

I've contacted Flight Center and itravel2000... am still waiting on quotes from them, FC has been pretty helpful so far, the only frustration is the turnaround time on quotes from the tour operators!! I'm mostly concerned with getting the best rates possible for my guests, the rest I want to handle myself, I'm a planner by nature and am pretty excited about planning all the details! :)

DEFINITELY use a TA! And...ideally, one that works specifically with Destination Weddings. I have a GREAT one through All About Honeymoons & Destination Weddings and she has already been such a lifesaver!!

NOT using a travel agent lands one with a killer deal at Le Reve hotel as well as a credit with del Sol or La luna...  http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/73510/del-sol-photography-la-luna-photography-hotel-lereve-bdwf-promotion

There are LOTS of advantages with using TA's, there is no question.   Many TA's on this forum actually specialize in certain areas, this is a HUGE resource...   I think it also says quite a bit about Tammy's agency...she runs / owns this forum...she has the deals!

In some cases though, you may be better off negotiating terms on your own, depending what kind of deals can be found and all will be different in high and low seasons...  Also, some TA's have absolutely NO idea about the location you are getting married in, so think about that... what can they really do?    There are TONS of solutions with and without... happy  hunting :)

I am an owner of an agency that specializes in Destination weddings. We have been handling international weddings for over 16 years (long before it was this popular). We have never charged any fees for our travel planning services! I highly encourage brides to use an agent we are here to take some of the stress from the bride, make sure everyone's plans are perfect and that everyone gets a great deal!
