let's start a MIL from hell thread

Oh it never ends...

My MIL is now unhappy with the seating chart for the ahr this weekend. She sent us a email full of demands, and claiming they will "just shove the tables together if that is easier". Um, wtf?? She is not paying for any of it and this is a plated affair at a fancy restaurant. I will not have these people be shoving tables and chairs around like a herd of cattle. We work hard on the centerpieces, chart and seating cards. I am tempted to tell this woman if she does not like it, there is an Applebees on the way home.

Unbelievable!

haha, I would totally make sure that either before or when you get to the restaurant, you tell the manager or staff who is taking care of your group that you would greatly appreciate if they would ignore any requests from your MIL if it pertains to something that has already been pre-planned ie seating arrangements, table arrangements, food, drink WHATEVER! That way she can spout off all she likes, but you'll know that it's been taken care of the way you want it done. Either that or tell her that when she throws a party of her own that she can make the seating chart then but otherwise this is your decision because its your party!

Just tell her your firmest "I'll kill you if you do not listen" voice, It is bloody fire code regulation that the tables be separated and arranged in the manner they have been placed. Also MIFL (I know this stands for something crued, I was able to apply it to somthing censored) "THIS MY DAY LET ME HAVE IT MY WAY"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I really hate people that have no sense of social acceptable behavior, "It's not your day, mother -in-law keep your mouth shut. What makes people think they can control everything.

OMG Brandy... sorry I agree, your FMIL sounds like a terrible woman!

I can't believe she has pictures up of FI & his ex and had the NERVE to say that to you about how "wonderful" she is!! I would have said, is she was so "wonderful" why is she out of the picture?

I would have by now, told her off, in front of people.... especially with the remark about your mom not needing to come wedding dress shopping with you! I'm totally shocked!

Then next, I'd move my wedding FURTHER away... out of the country and let her whine until her hearts content :)

BTW - My wedding colors are black, ivory & green and I think you made a FABULOUS choice :)

This woman really ruffles my feathers!!! Who does that?!?!?censored.gif
OMG!!!!! NOT COOL! I really have NO idea how I would react to this, it's just unimaginable that a mother would do that!!!

My FMIL is driving me crazy!!! She is upset that we are getting married bc she thinks my FI should take the place of her ex-husband, both financially and emotionally! She sends her bills to our house to be paid, tells us how much she wants for Christmas, had FI's uncle call us and tell us she needed us to pay for her trip and then said the amount of days we offered to cover weren't good enough because she needed a real "vacation"! I was also just informed that she wants me to stay elsewhere the night before we leave for Mexico because she wants a "mother/son night" with FI! What? We are leaving for two weeks and you want to kick me out of my house the night before we fly out for OUR wedding?! And to boot? FI's father will be there with his adorable girlfriend so FMIL bought the most LOUD, awful, revealing dress for our wedding "to make him realize what he had". She left him! Uggg, so glad you started this thread! She is staying at the same resort until the day we leave too! We won't get a honeymoon bc she "needed a vacation" which happened to be the exact dates we are going to be there AND we had to pay for her! I swear she is doing all of this bc she is mad we are getting married! Sorry, just wanted to vent with you : )

Oh gosh honey I am sooo sorry! This is a tough position to be in. I do have some ideas for you on how you might make the remainder of your stay more tolerable with her there. Is your mom going? Maybe you could put her on FMIL detail…you know, offer to go shopping with her, get her to do a couple of excursions, etc, so that you and FI have some time together. That and if you talk to your TA sometimes they can put requests on your reservation that you not be in a room near your guests. This way youâ€ll have some buffer space between you.
I know the situation is not ideal, and that sucks. I just thought Iâ€d give you some ideas so that it might be a bit more tolerable for you. After all, you DONâ€T have to spend all of your time down there with her, it is your wedding. And if for some reason she expects you to be at her beck and call while youâ€re at the resort, just explain to her that you and FI want some time to enjoy being newlyweds and spending time alone together. That and you can also point out that she wanted a vacation, and perhaps sheâ€d like to go out and try some different things. The worst thing that can happen is she gets upset with you, and then goes on with her “vacationâ€. I hope this helps!

Oh, no no no!! You will never get a honeymoon this way!! I would call your TA and see if you (just you and FI) can switch to another hotel for the second week for the same price. We had this option (for different scenery the second week). If you can I would TOTALLY do this and not tell your FMIL until... ah.. until you get there maybe?! LOL.
