Tying on another woman's engagement ring?

Recommended Posts

So far I haven't let anyone try mine on, and no one has asked. But I hope its not bad luck to try an Ering on, because when my FI and I were looking at rings to see what I liked so he could design it, the jeweler brought me a ring and I tried it on and THEN he told me that it was an engagement ring he just finished and was going to be picked up later that day. I felt bad afterward, wearing another girl's ring. But I guess she'll never know!!

HAHAHA. Yeah FI had the ring for like 3months before he popped the question. He actually picked up the ring when he was working and his partner tried it on. Then when they got to the station his partner was like look what A bought. Yeah the ladies freaked and put their paws on it. After we got engaged I gave them a hard time but I could care less. The way I look at it they are just jealous wink.gif

A guy I worked with had me try his future FI's ring on as soon as he got it, before he asked her! He said he wanted to see what it would look like one someone with small hands (I have really tiny hands)...i just like to think I blessed it..HAHA jk! I always let friends try my ring on...I think its more of a personal thing: some people mind, others don't. ..

Very True, it is very flattering :)

I love seeing mine on other peoples hands as much as I like much as my own.

I do not believe this superstition but I share the same discomfort with someone else wearing my ring. I also would not want to wear someone else's ring. I believe that it is not just a piece of jewelry but represents a significant moment in your life where you decided to throw your lot in with another person, your FI. I think there is a certain reverance in that that should be respected. Kinda like Queen Elizabeth's crown. It would do nothing to her reign if someone else were to try it on, but I am sure if you asked her to try it on, she would probably not let you even if you had a bunch of guards around you to make sure you didn't steal it. It is a symbol of something very big and should not be scandalized by making it commonplace.
