Punta Cana Excursions

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I lived in Punta cana for 7 months (working at a resort) so I tried most of the excursions since they were free for me. The one I think most people would enjoy is the trip to Saona Island. I believe it's offered by most of the hotels, and it's a full-day trip. You take a bus from the hotel, then a motorboat and a catamaran. You get to see live starfish, flying fish, swim in a natural pool, and hang out at a really nice beach. It's a great place for collecting shells and coral if any kids are with you. They also serve lunch at the island.

I also enjoyed the shopping excursion in Bavaro since they took us to a cigar factory and a place that makes fruit flavoured rums in hand painted bottles (like banana rum, passionfruit, etc). They can personalize them however you want, which is pretty cool.

I agree that you shouldn't bother with the dolphin thing...it's not worth the money. And unless you REALLY want to go to Santo Domingo, don't bother with that one either cuz it's a very long day and your guests will be tired after!

If you have any questions send me a message!

Amstar is probably one of the biggest and most well known on the island. Prieto Tours is another one (but I don't think their website has much info on it that is helpful) as well as Scuba Caribe (they are out on the beach). The handful of different companies all have desks at every resort so it really is true that you can arrange all of this when you get there. Of course your TA could prebook all of this for you ahead of time too if you prefer. The ATV's seem to be one of the very popular land excursions (and alot of fun too). As for the water sports, Ive had clients pay for fishing and snorkeling excursions thinking the "free" options at their resorts would be inferior only to come back and complain. Just do the free stuff...it's just as good.

Ahhh yes, another one everyone regrets doing and complains about. Looooonnnggg day on a bumpy road. And I think it's rather costly too.

This is extreeemmly helpful! Do you remember the tour company it was that did the trips to Bavaro and the island? I've found some online from a website called "the realdr.com"
Are there companys you can book online or is it mostly when you get there?

We just did that excursion as well, but neither of us like it that much. It was fun, but we got so muddy that it sort of ruined it for us. So if you don't like getting dirty then this may not be a good option for you.

We also did a catamaran snorkeling with sharks and stingrays. That was fun! I would definitely recommend that one. We used VIP travel service. I have an e-mail from them with other tours, if you want I can e-mail it to you?

Hi,

We had 60 guests On La Barcaza Boat and were so impressed!

The boat LA BARCAZA is very beautiful, they have maximum capacity of 100 people. Flori the coordinator is so helpful and sweet , she offer us a spectacular decoration.

The evening started with taking pictures and cocktails for about an hour. The scenery is so beatiful! The boat was beautiful and the food was great. The dinner was the best dinner we had all week, better than our 5 stars resort.

Pretty much all of our guests when for a dip in the natural pool and had so much fun.

We all had a great time, our guests couldn't stop talking about it. The boat was great, the food delicious, and the set up couldn't have been better one of the best moments on our whole trip to the Dominican!!

I would definitely recommend La Barcaza Boat for an excursion in Punta Cana or for receptions...

The food and service was fantastic.
