When are you giving your OOT bags?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone wink.gif

I am thinking of making OOT bags for my guests. I thought I would make one bag per family or per couple. I just can't decide when I should give these bags to our guests.

I was thinking of filling my OOT bags with things like tylenol, immodium etc and was figuring that if I give the bags to the guests when we are in Jamaica than it will probably be a waste as they'll most likely have packed all of these things.

Can I ask what other people are doing?

Thanks for your help

Hey Megs - I'm a Meghan too!

I'd asked a similar question in another thread a while back and from that decided that for the most part I'm going to hand out our OOT bags ahead of time. Most of my guests are flying out of Calgary with us, and FI's birthday is about a week before we go - so I think I'm going to have a birthday party/pre-trip party and give them out then. As for our guests flying out of Winnipeg and Toronto, I'm just going to wait and see what my numbers are to decide if I will send them the bags ahead of time, or just pack them in with my things and hand them out at the resort. We actually have a couple friends heading down a day or so before us, so I might send those extra bags with them and have guests services leave them in the rooms.

We're including things like advil and immodium too but I think those items can always be used haha! But we're also putting in little puzzle books etc for the plane ride now that we know we'll be handing them out earlier.

Hope that helps!

I wish I had more people flying out of Calgary with us, but unfortunately most of our guest will be coming from different gateways throughout Canada and the rest of the world!!

So this is my tentative plan: (because I have no idea if it's going to work...but in my head it will!!)

I'm not doing a private welcome dinner or rehearsal dinner - as of yet I have nothing planned, so I think I will get everyone together for an impromptu meet and greet for drinks, I'll have to do a little research on what the best area of the resort is to do this (like a lounge area or something)and then we'll just say a little Thank You and pass out the bags or something like that. I'm going to try and do it the first night everyone is there...

Like I said I have no idea if this is going to work!! lol But this is my plan!! And there is no way I'm going to pay for another private dinner so this seems to be the best compromise...and I don't think everyone will fit in our room but if you're only having a small # of guests you could have a little party in your room?

I wish most people were flying out of our gateway so I could pass them out earlier, but I'm going to try and pawn off as much extra packing as I can on the peeps that are in Calgary!

We had a pre-trip party and handed most of them out there. Everyone who was out of town, we mailed theirs to them the same day of the party. We treated the party almost as a rehearsal dinner, and then briefed everyone about the resort, wedding, etc. It also allowed everyone to get to know each other a little before we left... although most were well acquainted already anyways.

We had the party 2 or 3 weeks before we left for Jamaica. We included more travel items like a deck of cards, dice, word game books, sodoku, etc. We also added a "packing list" template so that people wouldn't forget the little things.

Hmm... I haven't decided yet either, but I think I'd rather do it at the resort, especially since it'll have a welcome to Cuba letter in it!!

I'd like to see if we can hand deliver them room to room, or maybe hand them out at our welcome cocktail. We'll see. I haven't quite thought that far ahead yet!

I do think it'll be nicer to hand them out as a surprise at the resort, though... if we gave them out inadvance, I would be worried that people wouldn't take them with or something, and part of the reason I'm doing them is to give them a little something for deciding to actually attend!

FI and i are leaving two days prior to our group, we have people coming from everwhere arriving within a day or so of each other.

We're really lucky because our carrier allows a 100lbs each passenger. I have two kids in the house, mother inlaw and brother will be all here at the departure time so they can take anything I couldn't. Our plan is to give the OOT bags out at the "Meet and Greet night after the last of our guests arrive. We have the hangover kit however most of our stuff is fun water things, beach balls, water guns, footballs frizbees... So we're doing the transport the whole load of stuff with us trip.

We're taking ours with us to give to the guests when they arrive. I'm also afraid they wouldn't take them if we gave them out early and it would just defeat the purpose, with the First Aid kits, games, beach towels, etc., but I have to say, we only have seven to take.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, I know all the work I've put into these and just my luck half would probably forget them - and that would probably really really irk me! lol Plus I think it will be really nice from a guests standpoint to receive them all together at the resort! I know out resort charges to have them delivered to the rooms so I'll be hand delivering them!!

I'm just freaking out about luggage - I have 50 ppl and about 30 bags in total...ugh and only about 8 people flying out of our gateway!
