FI doesn't want to do TTD :*(

I'm super bummed right now. Ever since I started researching photographers for our wedding, I have LOVED the TTD photos. Everything is falling into place, I have booked Elizabeth Medina (yay!) and it seems that planning is going perfectly.

Except for the fact that FI is not budging on us not doing a TTD. I started planting the seed a lot time ago, and he knows how much it means to me, so I thought he would eventually give in. He usually does, especially when he knows something is important to me. I don't think it's a $$ thing, but I have also offered to choose a less expensive dress to do this. At first, he didn't want me 'trashing' my dress. Then came the excuse that he didn't want to get wet. The latest excuse is that he doesn't want to do another photo shoot the next day (I don't want to do it in between the ceremony and dinner).

I really don't see what the problem is- I am just asking for two more hours for us to play and cuddle in the water! This is my only chance to ever do this, and I know I will truly regret it if I don't. What do I do and thanks for listening to the vent!!

Well, the good news is that you still have a good deal of time before this is going to happen. Since you will be in a beautiful place for your wedding, you are going to have a million people taking pictures of you guys from the second you step off that plane, so you might want to prepare him for that - everyone who comes to the wedding is going to have a camera and want to take a ton of pics.

Maybe let it go for a bit and then bring it up again, show him some of your favorite TTD pictures and tell him how when you saw them you just saw the 2 of you doing them and how special you thought it would be.

Maybe if you can do a modified TTD, some pics on land and some just in the surf. My FI will just be wearing khaki's and a white shirt rather than his suit....to me that's fine...

Good luck!

my hubby wasn't exactly thrilled about the idea either. I too planted the thought of doing one early on in our planning. I repeatedly told him how excited I was to do so he knew that it was something I really wanted. on the day of our TTD he made several comments about how he didn't understand why we were going to do it, how he didn't understand why I wanted him to wear a shirt in the water, etc, etc. He knew though that it was something I was so excited about so he ended up going along with it. He did get away with just wearing shorts in the water but whatever I didn't want to make a big deal of that (although I would have preferred he wore a shirt)

anyway just keep talking about it, you have some time. Also I have heard other girls talk about the same thing and throw around the idea of just doing the shoot by themselves. I know that is probably not ideals but you could still get your trashing that way!

If it is something you really want though stick to your guns on doing it. It is a once in a lifetime thing and it really was so fun to jump in the pool and ocean in my dress!

You can always do it by yourself. I did mine alone and know of at least one other who has. I had a ball! I would have liked DH to do it with me, but I wasn't going to compromise. Some of those shots were my favorite and I have no regrets. We did go out later and got some shots of us together on the beach - DH in khaki shorts and me in my TTD. You could always start out that way and see if he will get caught up in the moment and join you!

What's his problem? Really is it that big of a deal? Sooo who can we sick on him? Would FMIL help out by giving him a taking too?? How about aunts or sistershuh.gif Maybe if HIS family talked to him about how ridiculous his being maybe he would give in? It sounds to me he is so worried about having to do another round of pictures and not enjoying the rest of vaca that he's all wrapped up in that 1 thought. Hmmm how about bribing I'll give you this if I get 2 hours of this? Good Luck!!!!

Gosh I love this forum SOOO much! Thank you ladies for all of your advice and wisdom! I have been working all day (probably making him crazy) I totally brought up all of these points...... and I think it worked :)

Jersey Kitten- I brought up what you said, and told him that people would be photographing us all day- I don't think that had occurred to him

Andi- told him that he could wear whatever he wanted (not happy about that, but happy to get him there and willing :))

jkcz0702- told him that it would clean the dress (which I think he was semi happy about, but thought I was trying to pull the wool over his eyes! haha)

Erin B- I think this was the last nail in the coffin-----when I mentioned doing it on my own, he was NOT having that. I think it really sealed in the fact that I wanted it more than life

And Preciousmi811-- I just heart your attitude!! I would have totally resorted to bribery!!!

SO in the end (after working really hard all day on a HUGE football Sunday) he told me to see if EM was available to do it the next day, and if not, to find someone else to do it!!!!!!! (he also said at the end that he knew I wasn't giving up :)

Thank you SOOOOO Much for all of the great points. Every day, I am so appreciative of the info and advice I get from this forum----- can't wait to show my pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hooray for persistence, and/or bride craziness!!!

Thats too funny! It is amazing how our guys who are suppose to be so tough and head strong can be so soft and squishy when the right buttons are pushed! I am thrilled that you were able to get him to see the light. He will definitely not regret it especially when you get the pics back, and if he is anything like my FI, will joking take all the credit for how wonderful and unique they are!
