I'm gonna be calling around today to some of the resorts to get some quotes on packages designed specifically for two. I'll return when I get some more info.
Oh, that's wonderful! I can't wait to hear what you come up with...if I find out any info, I'll post it as well!

I just returned from going on a cruise in Hawaii, Maui was beautiful...we rented a car and drove all over. I just wanted to give you a different option. We had lunch at this wonderful restaurant & Inn in Paia called Mama's Fish House, it was stunning and the food was so delicious. The restaurant overlooks there own little beach and it is truly a romantic spot if I was getting married in Hawaii it would be their. They do weddings on the beach and the manager sets everything up. I really liked the Kihei area too but I found this place truly breath taking. Best of luck planning :)

Hi Emily:

Sorry it has taken so long to respond. I gave up on going through the resorts to do the wedding, as I felt their packages were WAY too expensive for what they were worth. Here is a summary of what we have planned copied and pasted from a post on Trip Advisor:

"We ended up going with Makena Weddings (Makena Weddings - Maui Wedding Planners, Maui Wedding Locations, Weddings on Maui). They had the classiest website for the budget we wanted to spend. Laurie also called me within 24 hours of my initial email, which I appreciated as I was anxious to get things organized. They also use a quality photogtrapher (BluDomain, BluDomainhosting, photography websites) with reasonable packages. Right now we are in for about $1000 which includes everything we need (Cermony, flowers, photos, advice etc.)

We are staying on Maui for 7 nights. The first three will be staying with Maui Ocean Breezes in their Swaying Ocean Studio (Maui Vacation Rentals owner direct, Haiku, Maui, Hawaii Vacation Home Rental, Maui Cottages ). I have read great reviews in Trip Advisor and was able to get it for $135/night + $55 cleaning fee.

The fourth night we are camping on Haleakala Volacano. Hopefully we can get our permits and stuff while there.

Nights 5 through 7 we are staying at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka'anapali which we were able to get for $179/night (+$25/night resort fee) through a friends and family discount (a friend is a chef with Westin in Edmonton).

We are also renting a convertible for about $300 for the week.

Breakdown:

Wedding & Photographer -$1000

Nights 1-3 - $135x3+$55=$460

Night 4 - FREE (some small fees, but we'll skip them)

Night 5-7 ($179+$25)x3=$612

Rental - $300

TOTAL = $2372+tax ~$2500 (some of the quotes above included tax)

That leaves us $1500 for activities and food. Now for the fun part of the planning!"

I just feel that paying an extra $100-$200/night to have strawberries delivered to your room and a free breakfast buffet is a ridiculous amount when my fiance will find it much more romantic to stroll the streets of this tropical paradise, popping into the first cafe that tickles our fancy.

I hope this helps. We get married on November 12, and if you are interested, I can update you on how well Laurie at Makena weddings was to work with. So far she has been reliable, friendly and efficient. Right up my alley.

Colin

Another vote for Mama's Fish House. We had lunch there during our honeymoon and it is truly an incredibly gorgeous, breathtaking place. The food is the best fish I have ever eaten. It would be an amazing place to have an intimate wedding for you and your fiance. Good luck!
