Beaches Resort question to recent brides from 2009

Recommended Posts

My daughters wedding is May 2010. The wedding is at 1PM and we are having the 4 course dinner and the 2 hr reception. Has anyone done this and how was the food. Any suggestions? We are thinking of having the 2 hr dinner,

the steel drum band for one hour and then the DJ for the other hour so we can dance. I'm not sure if there would be too much hassle to set all this up?

It is hard to picture how all of this will come about. What music did you use

to come down the aisle at the start of the wedding. Recorded?

Hi Inquisitive Mom! Welcome to the forum! I'm also a Beaches bride in May 2010 - what day is your daughters wedding?

I know I'm not a recent bride, but I'll try to help as much as I can. Our ceremony is at 4pm, and while we are still in the planning stages, I'm thinking that after the ceremony we'll take some pictures, have a cocktail hour, and then move on to dinner. We are debating between on having a private dinner or not...I like the idea of having it private, but I think spending so much additional money when it's already AI doesn't make sense either. Have you received the menu selection for the private dinner? If not, let me know and I can post it for you. In my opinion, the menu looked good, but nothing extraordinary.

For the ceremony we will be using an iPod and probably bringing our own portable sound system (FBIL has a nice one he can bring). I think I'm using Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole when I walk down the aisle, and we have a few songs picked out to be played while the guests are being seated as well. There are some great threads on here for song ideas for the ceremony, first dance, etc.

I like the idea of the steel drum band for the cocktail hour, but we are also considering just using the iPod for everything - we have some really great songs picked out and it would save some money as well.

I wouldn't worry about the hassle part - the resort staff will take care of everything so it's exactly as your daughter wants it. I'm not sure if you are looking to have a private reception for the dancing part, but I do know they can set up a dancefloor on the beach or in the garden (wherever you are having your private dinner) and I believe the fee for that is $200.

Good luck with your planning :)
