Congrats and welcome to the forum! I'm getting married at Excellence Playa Mujeres. It is a beautiful resort with great reviews. However it is right outside Cancun and not technically in the Riviera Maya. Although they have a sister resort Excellence Riviera Cancun which is in the Riviera Maya, but not as modern. My FI and I stayed at the RIU Riviera Maya Jan 2009 for about $250/night, but that included our airfare too. This was also prime time! The month of Nov is great for Mexico b/c it is not primetime yet and hurricane season is just over. Read the reviews of RIU RM on here and you'll be impressed.

Welcome and congrats...I am getting married at the Paradisus. It would probably fit into your budget, but the prices are always high when it is still far out. There's a big long thread with tons of comments from brides who have gotten married there.
