Oh I know the frustration part of things! If you have followed the thread I had exactly the same problems. Just wondering if you happen to be Canadian? Because that could be why your bank was having issues. I believe that is why ours had issues. Banks in Canada have a different standard then banks in the US.
Anyways.. glad that everything worked out for you. We ended up paying by credit card as well.

I'm not Canadian, and my bank is a pretty major one here on the east coast so I have the feeling it may have something to do with either the resort or their bank.

I probably should have looked through to see if anyone had the same problems I did :P

I also forgot to mention that we made our wedding website live! We decided to go free and simple with The Knot. Welcome - The Knot: Wedding Web Page Builder

I am getting married at H3R on 11.6.10! Can't wait of course! We have confirmed the photographer, minister and hair/make-up people. We are working on getting a DJ (if there are any great recommendations let me know). We finalized the set up for both nights (colors, chairs, lighting, etc.). We have about 20 people booked and about 20-30 more who will be booking in the next few weeks.

Is just doing a welcome/thank you letter for the OOT to little? I don't want to have to lug more than I need to. I also don't want to spend more than I have to. I went to a DW and they did nothing in the rooms and I thought a thank you letter was all they really needed.

Welcome and congrats!!!
We've hired DJ Ivan and had the opportunity to meet with him at the resort for during our site visit. He was very professional and has received great review from other brides on the forum. We're also getting the lit dance floor from him and he is providing the sound system for our ceremony and welcome party as well.

Did you use the resort's recommended vendors for rentals/flowers or did you select your own? I'm just entering this stage so I would love to hear what you've done for this.

I think that a nice, personal welcome letter would be just fine for your guests. OOT bags are one of those things that are great, but not expected so I don't think your guests will miss it at all...then you can use that money for other parts of the wedding. Plus, more room in the suitcase for cute clothes!!!

Thanks Becks! and Congrats to you too!!

We went down for a site visit last January and Luis had everything set up for us to meet all the vendors. I didn't know how to do a search of vendors on my own so we went mostly with what he presented to us. On a few occasions we had more than one choice. We're using Aki Demi for the photographer. I can't remember the name of the hair and make-up people, but I did a trial with them and it was good. I don't know the name of the florist or the minister (it's a really nice woman). The set up stuff is coming from Planner 1 Events. Allibe gave me the name of a DJ-Ismael Rojas and I'm waiting for a sample CD from him. I'll also check out Ivan from Doremixx since you and a few others mentioned him in these posts. We're also hiring a cigar roller and may also hire a 3-piece Mariachi band.

As far as the OOT bags I think I will focus on the letter and then if something comes up that I think is a must-have, then I'll do it. There are SO many cute ideas, but with a wedding of more than 50 people it can get costly too.

Do you think you guys are going to do a cocktail hour between the ceremony and reception? Are there any unique things you're doing?

Sorry ladies I haven't visited in over a month, crazy summer in Chicago. Shannon...no worries, I've spent my entire life correcting the "O" to an "A", so I'll make sure that she doesn't mix us up.

I see that you all have made a lot of progress. I am just starting everything now, the six month countdown is getting my butt in gear. I see that there's been a DJ recommended, DJ Ivan. Are there any other suggestions? We are going to have a marachi band too for an hour during the cocktail receptoin. Anyone book that yet?

Hi Girls -

We are using DJ Mannia - we've seen great reviews and also our wedding coordinator recommended them.

MrsS2B - who are you using for a cigar roller? Can you tell me how long they will be there and what prices are you seeing? FI really wants one and I think it's a great idea:)

I don't have the name yet, but I will be calling my WC in a few days to get the names of everyone we are using (I need to get organized). So when I have the info I'll post it for you. I just got a reply from DJ Mannia and I am waiting for another reply from someone else. I'm glad to hear Mannia has had good reviews!doh.gif

We called Luis yesterday, he was very apologetic and said that he doesn't check his email when there is a wedding party at the resort. I guess that's the best possible answer we could have gotten - let's hope he's equally as attentive when it's our wedding!! I would reccomend calling though - that seemed to do the trick.
