Real Gran Caribe Cancun wedding in 2010!

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on getting married there in November of 2011. I have been workig with Rebekah also, and she has been great in getting me everything I have needed. If anyone has pics or suggestions that has already been married there, I would love to see them or hear from them!.

I am getting married at the Gran Caribe on 10-01-10 in the Catholic Chapel. Can't believe it's almost here!!!  We have 30 guests joining. They will be split between the Royal and the Gran. We are having a welcome dinner at the Royal's Maria Marie the night before. I've made almost everything so far for the wedding . And I mean everything! ---save the dates, menu cards, place cards, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, centerpieces, table cloths, OOT bags( with goodies, welcome letter, room key/money holders, and bubba kegs painted with guest's names), song list, fans with programs for ceremony, throw away bouquet, decor for the chapel pews.....  Needless to say, I've been a little busy lately and quite stressed out. I don't recommend this process, however I wanted everything to look like I wanted it to look, without having to spend a lot of money, and the best way to do that was do it myself. I don't have pics of everything yet, but before I pack it up to take down there, i plan on taking pictures of it.

I know everyone has tons of questions. I did too. Still do in fact. It takes time, but eventually you'll find the answers. Most I found on blogs like this. I did not do a site visit first, but because of reading blogs from others, it almost wasn't necessary. Suzanna was my first coordinator, she never wrote me back either. I complained to the head person at the resort and the very next day I had a new one that was awesome. Then I got a new one, Angie Silva. It was a little frustrating repeating my same questions and resending the same documents. Now I have a new coordinator again, this time it is the one I will actually be dealing with while I'm down there.

Lets see......other facts....

I am Catholic, my fiance is Baptist. And I had no problems at all getting a letter from my priest. After we completed the marriage classes through the Diocese, he wrote a letter giving me permission, i faxed it to my WC, and she said they approved. Here is the letter copy with last names and towns blocked out. If it says something to this effect, you will be just fine. But it does have to have the church seal on the letterhead though, remember that.

So I should be able to answer a few questions for some of you and I'll try to upload more as soon as I can.

Good Luck to everyone.

Hi mressel,

We're getting married at the Caribe and have decided to make some of our stuff as well to save money. I was just curious about a few of your items- first your menu cards. Was it the same for everyone? Angie told us that we need to have a set menu for everyone and it has to be chosen ahead of time. Were you told that as well?

As for your bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages did you order the flowers from the Caribe or from another florist?

Are you brining your own table cloths? Angie just sent me a catalog the other day with all the designs but I really didn't like them and was going to settle for the white standard.

How did you make the room key/money holders? That sounds like a great idea! And as for the bubba kegs, were you able to buy those bulk? We wanted to give away some sort of thermal cups too but couldn't find any decently priced.

One last question, for the Chapel decoration are you brining your own stuff to decorate?

I look forward to hearing your response :)

I'm getting married at the Royal in Cancun. You can pick two main courses but you have to have colored cards or something at the dinner so that the waiters know which person gets which entree. And you have to tell htem how many of each beforehand.
