*JillD*
I think we all have the same problem with self motivation, I've been paying $50 a month for my gym membership and haven't been to the gym since March! What a waste of money! I like group classes too, the rest of the stuff I can't keep myself motivated to do.
LCBride2007
When I moved to Chicago about a year ago I ended my membership in MN (obviously), but never got a new one in Chicago. And since I travel so much for work (every week) I find it hard to get to a gym in Chicago. I am thinking of signing up to see a personal trainer here where I work (in NC), and at least go 2 times per week. Then if I can just at least go for a walk a few times a week, that should be ok! Right? lol I just hate running (or at least have it in my head that I hate running), but for some reason I like going for walks. I even just bought an iPod hoping that would make me want to go more - I can just bop around to my music. I loaded it with all sorts of goofy stuff, I just love cheesy 80s music! Too bad that push doesn't seem to be enough right now ... grrrrrrrr Ann, If I don't work out after work it just mean more time alone right now with Cain's Ma.. That will motivate just about anyone.. :-) Why not go to any indoor tennis/racket ball court and play. That's actually good cardio. AND if you want to sit on the couch do arm excercise while you sit there, you would be surprised (while watching TV) how much you do without even knowing it. Yeah, looking good in a bikini is also a top concern of mine, and I also have a wedding a month before ours.. LOL crazy how we are so alike in that regard.. :-)
LCBride2007
Good point - if I had Marty to go home to, I might figure out a way to like exercise! Funny - we're getting married so close together too (June 8 vs June 5) - strange! And Paul and I have talked about getting into tennis (you're reading my mind!) - we'd both rather play a sport than exercise. Maybe we'll do that next week - good suggestion. *JillD*
I bought a treadmill a few months ago in hopes that it would motivate me to exercise more, its not working. Oh Tammy, I would defintely go to the gym if I had to come home to Marty! My problem with getting to the gym is that steve goes to bed so early because he has to get up so early, so if I go to the gym after work, by the time I get home, he'll be in bed and I'll never see him. I even got up early this morning when he left the house, he was like what are you doing, why are you out of bed, I said I'm going to go use the treadmill. Well I got down to the treadmill and I looked over at the computer and I said, email sounds better. He's going to yell at me later!
TammyB
Jill why not go home, spend time with your FI and then after dinner (about an hour afterwards) head back out to the gym? I used to do kickboxing around 7:30 at night 3 times a week, it was hard to motivate myself to go, since I normally just want to sit down and relax, but what I found out is that it was great it made me really tired for bed that night and OMG does it kick your body back into shape really fast. LCBride2007
I prefer to work out in the mornings if I can. NOT because I am a morning person, I am sooo not!, but because 1) it gets it over with, 2) i just know i won't feel like working out after work - and i never like to turn down a happy hour!, 3) it's easier for me with being diabetic, i don't have to worry about what i've eaten and what insulin i've taken that day now if I could just get my butt out of bed! *JillD*
Tammy that's actually not a bad idea, I'll have to check out my gyms schedule to see what they have for later classes, motivating myself to leave the house in this awful cold weather will probably be the hardest part. Ann, I'm so not a morning person, I actually started taping all of the workout shows on tv, with our dvr and was planning to do them in the mornings, but about a week ago our dogs ate the remote and we haven't got a new one yet, so that's the end of that idea for now! Sorry - probably not funny to you, but it made me chuckle anyway! It's like the school kid's excuse "the dog ate my homework." I love it! REBECCA
Hey ladies, I was told by a nutritionist that a woman's weight fluctuates twice a month. During ovulation and just before your period. So don'r get down on yourself if your weight doesn't reflect a huge loss on a given week. It is probably one of these water retention days and the very next day you could be down 2 pounds! It will all balance out in the end...just try to stay focused! Also, if you are feeling like all you want to do is eat...then try to get creative and make a lowfat version of what you are craving. Once I was craving nachos loaded with cheese. Well, the real version of that would be like 1000 calories (or in the points world, 25 point). Wll I bought the Lays Reduced fat tortilla chips, measured out one portion, bought a can of fat free vegetairan chili, fat free sour cream, reduced fat cheese and baked them in the oven. It satisfied my craving and, granted it might have been like 6 points, but, if I have given into the craving and went to Tacl Bell or something it would have been a lot worse. It is alway better to make it yourself than to eat out!!
